After one makes it to level 10 in the dragon disciple PrC and becomes a half-dragon, do the enhancements in strength stack (the ones he gets from levelling up with the +4 from half-dragon)? I am led to believe it is this way, but IŽd rather be sure.

A half-dragon can't be a dragon disciple. Complete Warrior states that if you lose the requirements for a PrC, you lose the PrC class features, so you lose all your dragon disciple bonuses if you ever become a half-dragon

Now, if you disregard CW's rules, yes, they stack.

Except, of course, if he loses the PrC abilities, he becomes just the base creature again and gains the abilities... and then promptly loses them again... only to gain them again...

I don't know about you, but to me that sounds kind of painful. :D

I was under the impression that you loose any special class abilities (Ex and Su) and any class bonuses.

the changes to the abilities are different, you wouldn't loose those. I've got nothing to back that up, it was just my impression. I'd like to see some more concrete answers though.

please, don't have us believe that you lose Dragon Disciple abilities when you get to 10th level because you become a Half-Dragon...

yes, the increases stack (they are not bonuses, which can or cannot stack, but simple increments to the score(s)).

The original poster is referring to the fact that at 10th level the DD takes on the template of a half-dragon.

Half-dragons as a rece get +8 to strength. The 10th level DD gets +4 to strength to bring the total bonus to +8. Basically, the bonuses received at 10th level are the ramaining bonuses that the half-dragon would receive.

There ARE a couple discrepancies, though. Half-dragons get flight at half the base race's land speed. DD only gets equal. Does this speed increase at 10th level when you take on the template? Also, DD natural attacks are bite primary, claws as secondary. For half-dragon (and most other races with natural attacks) the claws are primary and the bite is taken with the penalty. Is that a typo?

I see... I misunderstood the post. I thought the OP was asking what happened if you took the half-dragon template class after you take 10 levels of dragon disciple.

Sorry for any confusion.
