| sonofdrizzt08-25-07, 01:10 PM | Hey, i need a class or prestige class that will increase my character's speed beyond "human" means, like 50 ft or more. |
| Pinkycatcher08-25-07, 01:31 PM | Monk? Barbarian dip for 40 ft.? I know there are a ton more out there, but those are the easy one's, also look up the feat Dash, +5 movement. |
| deadkoo08-25-07, 01:35 PM | go barbarian/monk. fast movement and then monk speed=uber... or you can just go quickling if your DM allows it.. |
| Sundracon08-25-07, 03:08 PM | For a fast flying speed, you can go raptoran(40 fly, average) -> fighter(using the +10 fly substitution at lvl 8)/stormtalon(for +40 fly at lvl 9). This would give you a 90 fly speed for your base movement while flying so any kind of enhancement to your fly speed will speed you up even more. I think there is also a dash-like feat that gives you +10 to your fly speed but I don't remember which book it is in. |
| posternutbag08-25-07, 03:15 PM | Monks, Barbarians, and Scouts come to mind as base classes. Eldeen ReachRunner (RoE) comes to mind as a PrC. The Swiftblade as well. The Elightened Fist (CAr)and Sacred Fist (CDv) advance speed as a Monk would. The problem is, all of these are enhancement bonuses so they don't stack. Dash (CW) is a feat that grants +5 BLS and is not an enhancement bonus, AFAIK. A 20th level Longstride Shifter Monk could move 120 feet per round. With the Run feat, I think thats about 68 mph. |
| dman1123508-25-07, 03:29 PM | Also dervish (CW) gets you a little bit. I had a 110 ft/round monk once, but he didn't have run. |
| DwarfPcfan08-25-07, 03:33 PM | Another Good choice would be Fleetrunner of Elhona wich get't speed boosts as the prestige class devellops. It's in dragon magazine if I remember right... |
| KoreKore08-25-07, 04:59 PM | well don't forget incarnum dusklings, ymix that with monk and barbar and you are a speed matchine. |
| Lord_Zeb08-25-07, 05:29 PM | I like the Scout best, as that combines a +30' speed bonus at lvl 20 combined with Movement induced Skirmish AC bonuses and damage. As for spells, there are also the wiz/sorc Expeditions Retreat and Haste , increasing your speed by +30', as well as the Ranger/Druid Longstrider that increases it only by +10' but have a duration of hours. Not to mention the Boots of Striding and Springing granting +10' speed. These are all Enhancement bonuses though, and do not stack. Otherwise, dipping (1 lvl Barb, 3 lvls Scout, Monk levels in 3:s) and PrCing is nice, and the Swiftblade a definitely good choice if you get 5 Wizard levels. |
| LoneFlame08-25-07, 06:40 PM | If you really want some speed, get yourself a copy of Oriental Adventures. In it is a prestige class called the Blade Dancer. When all is said and done, you're looking at a +90 to your speed. |
| FrostWolf08-25-07, 08:37 PM | Catfolk scout/monk/barbarian/Magicless Ranger. I think that will get you up to 80 feet or so. |
| sonofdrizzt08-26-07, 03:31 AM | Catfolk scout/monk/barbarian/Magicless Ranger. I think that will get you up to 80 feet or so. OOH! i like that one. the only problem is i dont have Complete Adventurer yet. I SOOOOO want it though! |
| LoneFlame08-26-07, 11:47 AM | It's a shame Oriental Adventures is hard to come by, or my prestige class suggestion would be more doable. Half-shadow creature catfolk will give you a base landspeed of 60ft to start with. Dip one lv into Barbarian, knocking it up to 70ft. To finish off would be to spend 15 lvs in Monk, raising your speed to 120ft. |
| FrostWolf08-26-07, 02:47 PM | Also, in unearthed Arcana, there is a character trait that will add 10 feet to your base land speed. |
| rironin08-26-07, 02:55 PM | The Forest Reeve prestige class from Complete Champion gives you fast movement like a barbarian at 1st level (which explicitly states that it stacks with fast movement from another class) and a +10 ft. bonus to your land speed (untyped) at 2nd level. The prereqs would allow any Ranger or Barbarian to take it without too much trouble. Even a monk, though I don't know how that would work for the rest of the character's stats. EDIT: You only get the 2nd level boost to speed if you already have the Woodland Stride ability, so this would only work for a ranger, druid, or similar. |
| Fallenangel35908-26-07, 11:38 PM | stalwart battlesorceror going into swiftblade, and abjurant champion. 50 enhancement bonus to speed is nice, not to mention 2 standard, and 1 move action per round, rather than 1 standard and 1 move, along with a non-illusion based blur effect, that also applies to spells, and the ability to get additional rounds by burning haste spells. |
| G_Mancer08-27-07, 12:32 AM | unearthed arcana has a trait -1 hp/lvl for a +10 movement speed. |
| periscope08-27-07, 11:30 PM | There is a speed monk on the boards that gives you a mondo bonus to speed, and the whole class revolves around speed and you can use it in a variety of situations. Best of all, it doesnt have an alignment restriction. Try looking in the Peach Orchard. EDIT: Found a link. It was under "Supersonic Warrior" and it has a non evil alignment restriction. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=811326 |
| Fallenangel35908-27-07, 11:50 PM | now if you want truly sickening, go with stalwart battlesorceror sorceror 6, swiftblade 10, bladedancer 4. Movespeed of 190, with 10th level arcane casting, base attack 18, 5d8+10d6+40+20xconmod hp 50% concealment vs all targeted spells, and attacks due to sheer speed plus a 10 bonus to jump, tumble, and balance, and you can take a 10 on all of those, which means autopass on almost all balance checks, autopass on dc 20 tumble checks through someones square without modifier, and the jump is entirely predictable, and useful Note the build requires actual ranks in tumble, so 12+dex+20, or with no dex, autopass on a 32, which means you can tumble through 6 peoples squares, in a row, with no dex. With the 18 base attack, you still get a +3 bonus to attack roll from haste. If you get a weapon with the energy assault cold crystal, can lower enemy's movespeed by 10. This character would be a total blur. If you go epic, you go into abjurant champion, and after 2 levels get timestop by burning haste, and then finish abjurant champion, and then pick up ardent savant. Start forceshielding yourself :P Might aswell pick up rapid blitz, to have 2 hits from a springattack. |
