Or do you mean that you'd bump both at each odd level, but still get to bump one caster level on even levels?

As the mystic theurge, bump both every other level.

So it bumps two spellcaster levels on odd levels, and no caster levels on even levels? Again, you can already basically do the same thing with the class as printed in MotW.

Your revised method will result in the character gaining 5 acane caster levels and 5 divine caster levels, but forces the character to split his levels. The only benefit your revision would have over the original is that you would get one of your caster levels one level earlier, every other level.

With the original you can choose to take all odd levels as divine levels, and all even levels as arcane caster levels. The net result is the same; you gain 5 divine caster levels and 5 arcane caster levels. The original also allows the player to choose how he wants to divide those levels. He could gain 7 arcane levels and 3 divine if he wanted to; or he could take all arcane levels or all divine levels.

Your revised method is clunky and pigeonholes characters into taking the weakest progression possible. Trust me, a 20th level character that is a 17th level arcane caster and 3rd level divine caster (or vice versa) is a whole lot more powerful than one who is a 10th level arcane/10th level divine caster, or a caster with an 8/12 split (the best that could be possible with your revision).

I notice that you also dropped the Fort save. Is there a reason you are trying to nerf/hamstring this class?

Yeah, it was a decent class if built the right way, but it was in no way overpowered. There are several much more powerful PrC's that a character could choose. Truth be told, I would never play the class as you have presented it - it just cripples the character way too much.
