Beating a dead horse perhaps, but there is something new that can always be drawn into a new topic:

1 Bonus Feat
2 Bonus Feat
3
4 Bonus Feat
5 Combat Veteran
6 Bonus Feat
7 Improved Weapon Focus
8 Bonus Feat
9
10 Bonus Feat
11 Improved Weapon Specialization
12 Bonus Feat
13
14 Bonus Feat
15 Greater Critical
16 Bonus Feat
17
18 Bonus Feat
19
20 Bonus Feat

Combat Veteran: The fighter knows enough about combat that he can take any Fighter bonus feat with an ability score requirement of 10+ 1/2 the Fighter's level or less as a fighter bonus feat without actually needing to have that score. This does not grant the fighter extra feats, it merely allows him to qualify for said feats so long as they are taken as one of the fighter's bonus feats. The fighter must still meet all other requirements.

Improved Weapon Focus: The fighter can now apply the bonuses from Weapon Focus to all weapons similar to the one(s) he took the feat for. He must be proficient with the respective weapons for the bonus to apply. It is up to the DM whether or not weapons are similar.

Improved Weapon Specialization: As Improved Weapon Focus, but for Weapon Specialization.

Greater Critical: As Improved Weapon Focus, but for Improved Critical.

I don't think these changes are too severe, they do give the fighter something of a bunch of "virtual" feats as well as allowing the fighter a little lee-way for taking their bonus feats, not much, but enough. Any thoughts? :D

Edit: Clarification and a minor typo fixed...

Some nitpicking:

Combat Veteran: The fighter knows enough about combat that he can take any Fighter bonus feat with an ability score requirement of 10+ 1/2 the Fighter's level or less as a fighter bonus feat without actually needing to have that score. He still must meet all other requirements.

So, when he gets a new feat, it applies? Or no? Or does the fighter gain the feat at 5th level? You may need to reword this a little.

Improved Weapon Focus: The fighter can now apply the bonuses from Weapon Focus to all weapons similar to the one(s) he took the feat for. He must be proficient with the respective weapons for the bonus to apply.

A dagger is not equal to a fullblade, nor is a hatchet equal to an orcish double axe.

It merely allows the fighter to qualify for feats on the fighter bonus feat list, but only if he takes them as Fighter Bonus feats. *shrugs I can't really think of another way to word it.

I never said they were. Perhaps I should include an "it is up to the DM whether or not weapons are similar" type of deal. I would think that would be at least partially obvious, but, if it really needs to be included...

The deal with everything the same or similar, is that some lame player will twist it by saying technically it is similar enough..

Hmm... logically sound argument. Any suggestions on how to word it to prevent potential abuse barring writing a list?

similar nature and size, maybe?

A shortsword is similar enough to a rapier and saber. Just gets tricky when the size and weight shifts around and you're not used to it.. I am good with a pair of shortswords or a wakizashi or longsword, but I am not proficient with a scimitar.

It's just hard to word correctly. Maybe if you just allow the player to choose 1 or 2 more weapons and be done with it then it would be easier to deal with.

Sounds resonable... though I can't shake the feeling that limiting it to a few more weapons is nothing more than just giving the fighter that many free weapons focus feats. But... then again, I suppose that was partially the point behind the ability in the first place... *shrugs

How about 2+Int Bonus weapons of similar nature (ie: damage type and thematic nature (swords, polearms, etc)) and size (no more than one step larger/smaller)? I could go with just 2, if that seems like too much.
