| Devin, The Rogue Princess12-13-05, 01:17 PM | Is there a class that is similar to what happens in Shaman King? For example, you start play with a spirit of some kind (maybe a template that can be applied to a creature), and as you gainl levels it gets stronger, eventually being able to fuse it to your weapon or have it possess you or something. |
| Second12-13-05, 02:08 PM | Closest thing to that is either Incarnum classes or a chameleon claiming his class focuses are actually the channeling of souls that possess those abilities. You could even combine both in some odd way with levels in Incarnate or just take a few incarnum feats. |
| Devin, The Rogue Princess12-13-05, 02:13 PM | I'm more thinking of an actual familiar-like spirit that would travel around with you. Kind of like an intelligent item of sorts, in that if it's stronger than you, you could have trouble controlling it. |
| Second12-13-05, 02:20 PM | Then try a Spirit Shaman (CD) or a Shifter Druid with the 1st substitution level (RoE). The Shaman gives you a spirit guide that fetches spells and protects you from enchantment. The Shifter Druid can get a beast spirit they channel that grants them things like ability score increases, prepare more spells, gain another shifter trait, and more that you gain as you progress in level. |
| Devin, The Rogue Princess12-13-05, 02:22 PM | Maybe something like: Over Soul (Su): Starting at Xth level, a Shaman King is able to fuse her spirit with her chosen weapon. This gives her a bonus to attack and damage rolls for (Class leves + 3) rounds. This is usable 1/day at the start, with more uses later on. |
| Devin, The Rogue Princess12-13-05, 02:42 PM | Then try a Spirit Shaman (CD) or a Shifter Druid with the 1st substitution level (RoE). The Shaman gives you a spirit guide that fetches spells and protects you from enchantment. The Shifter Druid can get a beast spirit they channel that grants them things like ability score increases, prepare more spells, gain another shifter trait, and more that you gain as you progress in level. Where can I find those classes? I guess I can get some info about both of them and fuse them together somehow. |
| Daz Vader12-13-05, 06:04 PM | The Spirit Shaman is found in the classes section of Complete Divine. Shifter Druid is a substitution level found in Races of Eberron, IIRC. |
| Mighty Ranter12-13-05, 06:15 PM | I'm not done with this, mabey you could help... Spirit Magic Introduction This, like the other alternate magic systems, sets a new take on magic and it’s different kinds of ways. Spirit magic loosely bases on the Incarnum concept, using souls, but using them in a different way. Spirit magic uses ghosts and elemental spirits to help do the bidding of their Spirit masters. Spirit Magic The art of summoning ghosts and spirits to do your bidding. Spirit masters use their spirit to help combat his or her enemies as well as other mundane tasks. Spirit magic is a type of magic that uses ghosts and spirits. Not to give magical powers, like a cleric, but to enhance the powers of the Spirit master himself. Spirit masters can integrate ghosts and spirit into themselves and items (known as Spirit integration and Physical Integration respectively). Unlike Incarnum, Spirit magic does not shape the souls of the deceased into new things, but instead uses the spirits and ghosts as what they are, and utilizing it. Spirit masters gain the service of a spirit familiar, which will in turn grant the spirit master power. When spirit masters gain more experience in integration, they unlock hidden powers from their ghost familiar. Spirit magic acts as a different combat style to some and a totally new take on magic (Which it is). Spirit Familiar A Spirit familiar, be it whether a ghost or spirit, is the base of power for it’s Spirit master. Spirit familiar aid their masters in anything, from combat to regular household chores. Spirit familiars can be ghosts of long forgotten warriors, elemental spirits, or even angel spirits. Spirit Familiars is what makes Spirit Magic possible. It’s the base of magic of which a Spirit Master channels his Mana into. Ghosts integrate with their masters to take their masters body, or when their masters get stronger, they can integrate into items, such as swords and stuff. Spirit Familiars can also be played as PCs. They’re just spirits, which means they are incorporeal. Spirit Familiars are usually roleplayed as if they were PCs except when their elemental spirits (They can not speak a language). Spirit familiars can be very different from their masters, but many spirit masters prefer a spirit they can relate to. Mana Mana is the measure of a Spirit masters power. The power of a spirit master is measures by using the amount of mana he has. Mana is used to improve Spirit Familiars. Mana, is what separates the week from the strong. Humans start out with only a certain amount of mana and are stuck with it. The only way to improve mana is to train yourself rigorously. Mana help improve spirit familiars powers and to determine your Recall points to recall talents. Mana is energy of the body, and how much spiritual energy one can take. There is no definite units to mana, no one knows what it is. People say that they have 162. 162 what? Mana they answer, and that’s all they can. Your amount of mana is put into your Mana bank and can be withdrawal or deposited. Mana can be used with talents and feats. Mana is the inert power to control and wiled the power of ghosts. You are born with a certain number of mana and there are almost no means of increasing this mana. As you progress in levels, your character will be able to access more and more of his or her’s personal personal bank of mana. Talents Talents, when recalled grant the spirit master and spirit familiar alike, powers to help themselves. Talents are like Spells or powers. Talents are things that your spirit familiar had once learned, or just something you learned to recall from some long forgotten spirit. Campaign And Character Options Unlike the Magic of Incarnum book, this book does not have the idea of using how much or how little you want. Normally, if you want to use this book, you have to make a full fledged Spirit Master character. This is because spirit masters can only function through their spirit familiars. It will be quite useless if you’re a fighter with the Spirit Shaman class and you get a fighter ghost. Your ghost will fight yes, but you will soon get even stronger than him. For this purpose this book encourages the use of full-fledged spirit masters but some feats will help let your Psionics or regular character dabble in the spirit realm. Chapter Something: Spirit Familiars The man stood, as if waiting for something to happen. The goblin raid had no time to wait, with one order, the goblins attacked and charged toward the lone figure. “Quickly! Asharoth now!” The man yelled. The goblins saw nothing escept the man putting something invisible into his body. When he got up, he stood with a new confidence, as if he was a new person. “Now we can kill them” Said the man. “We?” The goblins said. Also called Ghost Allies or just Spirit companion, Spirit Familiars is the very heart and soul of the basis of Spirit Magic. Treated as friends from the good, and mere tools by the evil, the Spirit Familiars have always taken the biggest role in all of the Spirit Mastery art. Without them, their would be no spirit magic, and the spirit familiars would be mere ghosts. |
