| LoneFlame08-07-07, 03:53 PM | This one's a lot simpler than my other one (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=887674), though I think it might be able to get the job done about as well. It addresses the skills issue and the limited amount of abilities. It doesn't give out anything too grand or powerful, other than what the various D&D books gives out as fighter feats and variants. I did tweak some feats, but not to the point where they're broken. I also added a couple of optional alternate class features you can pick up in place of feats, but again, not anything that's broken. Not gonna popular among some of the other Fighter remakers, but the full feat progression should add enough legos to the pile to make this version of the Fighter able to hold it's own in the long run and still let players built up their Fighter Character as they see fit. | RobbyPants08-08-07, 04:52 PM | The only real problem I have with it is the boost fighters get at the lower levels (when they really shine). I don't feel they need much before level 5 or 6. Other than that, this certainly is an easy implementation. The nice thing about counting their initiator levels higher is that it helps with the fighter's versitilty. Still, I'm not sure if a bonus feat every level is the answer. Perhaps swap some of the class features out for the Bonus Feats at the odd numbered levels, and come up with some filler for the odd levels below 10th. |
| aelryinth08-08-07, 08:15 PM | This is a very, very standard Fighter fix which most people should find agreeable, with some Feat Fixing thrown in on top of it, which most people should also find agreeable. Nothing spectactular, but quite common sensical:) I'd probably restrict his skill list to that of the Warblade, with the addition of Ride and Handle animal, but that's me. ===Aelryinth |

Sounds acceptable. I just went with any skill(within reason) because there are a lot of different skills in the game that go well with certain Fighter concepts(such as Spellcraft for a Mageslayer Fighter or Spot & Listen for any Fighter). There weren't many skills that I couldn't find a suitable Fighter application for(although Appraise really should be left to the Rogue or Artificer). Then again, that could be said for almost any class. Now, under my 'within reason' clause, the Player has to be able to justify each class skill choice to the DM, so a reason alternative could be that the DM comes up with a set list of class skills for the Fighter and from their, the Players can negotiate adjustments with the DM on an case by case basis. Either way, the end result should be about the same. |
| LoneFlame08-10-07, 02:16 PM | Update: Added a few feats to the Adjusted Feats section. Perhaps swap some of the class features out for the Bonus Feats at the odd numbered levels, and come up with some filler for the odd levels below 10th. Just about every other Fighter Remake comes up with various filler stuff for odd lvs. Having already done one of those (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=887674) myself already, I decided to try a more simplified approach with this Fighter remake. |
