I'm looking for a sneaky fighter class. Something that jumps out of nowhere and impales you on his greatsword, dealing massive sneak attack + power attack damage, and then picking your friends apart as you slowly slide down the wall, bleeding out. In short, evil as hell (pun intended). Preferrably something that is pretty good at mid levels (we're starting at 8, and from talking to the DM I don't think my chain fighter is going to last long). I have to keep my stats if I remake, but since I rolled well (18,18,16,15,14,12 IIRC, don't have the sheet on me) I'm not worried about it. Anybody know something aside from what I have, which is Rogue3/Fighter3 (actually Swashbuckler3, but I can see fighter working well for feats)/Scarlet Corsair2 (playing a pirate campaign, looks to be much fun).

Thugs (UA). Take fighter, add Bluff, Gather Information, Knowledge (local), and Sleight of Hand as class skills, increase skills per level to 4, loose medium and heavy armor proficiency. Option of exchanging fighter feats for sneak attacks.

I've always liked the ninja (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rpg/rokugan_ninja.pdf).

Ghost-faced Killer PrC from Complete Adventurer is the way to go (these guys literally jump out of nowhere thanks to their ghost step ability, use two-handed weapons, deal extra damage with sudden strike). Alternatively, consider the Nightsong Enforcerer from the same book, or the Dread Commando from Heroes of Battle.

The swordsage from Tome of Battle is another option. They have 6 + Int mod skills (including Hide and Move Silently), bonuses on Initiative, and many fun maneuvers to use. Your character concept seems to scream taking maneuvers from the "Shadow Hand" discipline.

Druid/MoMF or shapechanging Ranger/MoMF. Dive in out of nowhere as a bird, then turn into a troll and crush your opponent. Then turn into some aquatic and disease-resistant aberration and escape down the loo before anyone can track you down...

If you're looking for a custom class, This guy is pretty much exactly what you're looking for. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=723099)

Here is some feats and stuff that help with the idea and flavor of the class.

Rapid Assault from the Tome of Battle
Leap attack from the Complete Adventurer
Some attack out of the back of the MM3 wich I dont have at hand but it gives an extra die of damage when you charge.

Rhino hide from the DMG works quit well with this build as well as the Vicious Melee weapon special ability.

The build works with charging the first round and doing a butt load of damge. Works REALY well with the scout class.

Thanks for the input everybody.

How do I exchange fighter bonus feats for sneak attack? I'm not seeing anything in the entry for Thug that'd let me do that.

I figured out more flavour that might help. I want something like the Phantom Assassin from WC3's Defense of the Ancients (hidden/sneaking all the time, blink striking across the battlefield), only with a greatsword. Ghost-faced killer looks promising, but with only 1-2 ghost steps per day (starting at level 8), that's not really an option. I might be able to work it, though, if I can plunder an item of invisibility or get the sorcerors to cast greater invis on me.

Sudden strike just seems like more of a one-trick pony than sneak attack, though, since if I miss the sudden strike, I'm probably not going to be able to use it for the rest of the encounter, while sneak attacking is always useful for flanking. Unless I'm missing some neat trick that I can use at lvl 8 that makes them flat-footed far more often than just the first round.
