| Ironcleaver04-12-06, 11:54 PM | Hey all, it's been a long time since my last posting but I ran across something that's puzzling; and I was hoping I could get some input on the matter. What happens when a player takes the "spontaneous divine casting" [from: UA pg:64], and mixes it with the Prestige Class "radiant servant of pelor" [from: CD pg: 52]? From my understanding, Ratiant Servent of Pelor can cast a domain spell (a spell assigned to a domain slot of healing at, say, when meditating at the begining of the day) empowered, maximized, ext... How would this mix when a cleric also casts spells spontansously? When any spell can be switched out for a domain spell, leading to more then the normal, single spell, of a level a day being a domain spell. Simply put: How dose the special casting properties of the PrC mix with the nature of how domain spells are cast spontanously? My take would be that this mix would be to powerful as the character could now "empower/maximize" more then what the PrC was designed for; which was only a single spell, per level, which was meditated into a healing domain slot. What's your input? Has anyone ruled on this? (note: it should be noted that I play in a very relaxed group that dose allow most splat books) ~ Iron. |

Well, first off, you can only cast 1 domain spell per level in a day. Domain casting is very clear, you can only cast one a day per level. So it is very clear that the Radiant Servant would empower/maximize the one spell casted as a domain spell and all the other casts that day would not be empowered or maximized because they would not be domain spells. You must also keep in mind any domain spells that are not on the spell listed EXCEPT by being on a domain (Horid Wilting), you would not be able to cast that spell more than once and you wouldn't be able to cast it if you had previously casted a domain spell that day for that level. |

| Ironcleaver04-13-06, 04:24 PM | Exactly. After sleeping on it, and I'm getting the same vibe here, that it's easiest to just reword the RSoP's healing casting effect; so that this combination could work. Currently: May cast one domain healing spell per day, per level, empowered / maximized. This spell must be chosen before hand and takes up the clerics domain spell slot. Changed to: May cast one healing spell per day, per level, empowered / maximized. Must mention that this special power is being used before rolling of the dice. I guess that's the easiest way to do it. Anyone have a better way to handle it? I'm always open to suggestions. ~ Iron. |

Would an RSoP with Spontaneous Domain Access (Healing) be able to maximize every cure wounds spell that he spontaneously case from his domain? I don't quite see how that epic feat allows you to cast more than one domain spell of each level per day? Can you help me see how? I read that epic feat as being useful in this situation: You have 3 domains. You selected a spell from domain 1 as your 5th level spell. You can spontaneously replace that spell from domain 1 with the spell from domain 2 or 3 to cast. Once casted, you can't cast a second domain spell of 5th level from domain 1, 2, or 3. A spontaneous divine caster would gain no benefit from this feat. A prepared caster would gain the ability to spontaneously cast his 1 domain spell from a spell list of all the domains he has access to each day. |
