Stances are not active while helpless.

Does your character sleep standing up??

Even if he could, he would still be helpless, so the stance would still be inactive. :P

> Does your character sleep standing up??

You don't actually have to be standing up to use or maintain a stance. The fact that he's asleep would be what poses the problem, as previously noted.

I know sarcasm doesn't translate too well, but sometimes the obviousness of it simply cannot be ignored.

I was, in fact, being fecetious.

I think the other ridiculous question...can Iron Heart Surge end his sleeping condition, so that he could assume a martial stance?

Hint: I might be using sarcasm again. Maybe. :P

While I realized that you were being sarcastic, the OP was asking for clarification on when stances can be used - and it's better safe than sorry when a response like that might lead to a false conclusion.

what's everyone's problem with ironheart surge? why have there been so many negative comments on it throughout the boards? I don't quite see a problem with it.

It's an OK ability, untill CustServ popped in and said it could end things like Anti-magic Fields, Forcecubes, and if one extrapolates, death. However, as written it is good, yet misleading ability.

It's a valid correction to make of your comment, Iarmeister, because every stance-related thread seems to contain someone saying you have to be standing to be in a stance. Wouldn't want to spread the ignorance.

Good thing you can't be in a stance while sleeping, too, or else Step of the Dancing Moth could make sleep walking a bit more dangerous.

I understand where y'all are coming from.

However, I'm a much more simple person than that. What I was meaning is that the most obvious answer to whether his character is sleeping standing up is 'No'.

It's the same answer to his actual querry.
