A True Necromancer Wannabee [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-12-05, 02:43 AM I've got a problem. I'll be playing a Cleric of Kiaransalee (Domains Chaos, Drow, Evil, Retribution, & Undeath) in a few months. However, I'd like to ditch her exclusive PrC (Yathrinshee, PGtF) after 5-6 levels and enter the True Necromancer PrC from Libris Mortis, re: better spellcasting progression. The problem geing that Kiaransalee doesn't grant access to the Death Domain, and it's required for the TN PrC. Is there any way I could gain access to the death domain? My DM's already ruled that Undeath won't qualify, and he's not going to change the PrC to allow my character to access it. Help?

03-12-05, 02:50 AM Have a spiritual revelation and decide to follow a new god, who also has the death domain. A simple Atonement and quest do nicely.

03-12-05, 07:28 AM Get a new god, as thats the only way to get other domains. Or maybe you can take a PrC which grants access to a new domain and can make your DM allow this one to be Death.

03-12-05, 08:27 AM On getting a new god whose domains include death: I presume I would then lose the former domains. However, would I also no longer qualify for the Yathrinshee PrC. It requires "Patron Diety: Kiaransalee". Thumbing through my copy of PGtF, I can't find any sort of 'ex-cleric' bit. By the RAW, would I lose all the PrC abilities, keep the abilities but be unable to progress further in the PrC, or invoke Deific vengance?

No feat or anything, eh?

EDIT: I just talked to my DM, and he ruled that the Yathrinshee PrC's Curse of the Revenancer class feature is an UNLIMITED source of zombies. :OMG! So you can see why I'm unwilling to lose it. :evillaugh Help?

03-12-05, 10:17 AM then there are a limited number of options. Contemplative nets you a free domain and divine health. Sacred Fist also gives a free domain, but u need improved unarmed strike, which i doubt you have, no? Those are really your only choices, since you don't want to lose your patron deity.

03-12-05, 11:05 AM Hmm... Taking a level or two of the Contemplative PrC would be a logical extension of her level(s) of Mystic Wanderer. I like. My only issue is that Death is neither a domain of the godess (Kiaransalee) or a bonus domain granted my alignment. However, since good/evil/law/chaos are the only alignment domains I know of, if she was NE... Perhaps I could get Death a an 'alignment' qualifier. Unless there's an interpretation I'm not aware of?

The Yathrinshee PrC is from Player's Guide to Faerun, pages 187-189. It's in the appendix.

Kiaransalee is in most of the FR books, but there's a section on her in Faiths and Pantheons (I think -- my copy's on loan). Here's a brief description:

Death Domain: As a DM, I'd allow it too. But the campaign I'll be playing her in is rather...by the book. As in 'literally'. Unlimited unead....is quite the game-breaking ability. Any suggestions as to phrasing the request?

BTW, she'll be NE.

If it is I cant find Kiaransalee anywhere in Player's Guide to Faerun or Faiths and Pantheons.

03-12-05, 06:03 PM Kiaransalee is a member of the drow pantheon. She's listed in the PGtF under The Retribution domain (pg 90), the Undeath domain; presumably under Chaos, Death, and Evil as well.

Kiaransalee is also listed as the patron diety for the Yathrinshee prestige class (under requirements). I would theorize that if you looked in F & P under the FR gods and godesses, you might find her. Although it could be I'm thinking of Deities and Demigods... Sorry I can't give you a reference; my clerical books are on loan. If you can wait until tomorrow, however, I'll be able to hook you up. (His religious guy of something will see it's first campaign then...and more importantly, I'll get my books back.)

I'm pretty sure she'll be in F&P though... Hmm....

03-12-05, 07:22 PM Well I found it I cant believe I missed it, she is in the Table of Contents. Well thanks to this thread I have new ideas for my Necromancer build. Hopefully DM will let me use Forgotten Realms. Also does anyone know if Curse of the Revanancer works on spells?

I think that should work fine, and makes plenty of sense.
