A weird question about Undead as Characters... [Archive] - Wizards Community

As in page 34, Libris Mortis, Book of Undead,
"If the character has no class levels, he simply gains one level of the appropriate undead class and may multiclass freely between that undead class and normal classes."

However, the other line
"When a character begins taking levels in one of the undead classes presented here, he must progress all the way through the class's levels before multiclasses in any other class, including another monster class."

So my question is , can a level 1 ghoul class character multiclass freely in other classes?
If so, since there's no LA or racial HD, would it be a bit broken ?
Or actually it's a bug?

If I'm reading that right, you can begin the game, with one level of the monster class, and no other classes, THEN multiclass freely, HOWEVER, if at any point you gain two levels of the monster class, or a level of the monster class at any level other than 1st, you have to take the monster class all the way to the end.

Could be wrong tho.
