Hello :)

I will be playing my first wizard next month, and I am a bit confused on bonus spells.

Lets say I start at Lv.1, and my intelligence is 17. This allows me a bonus allotment of one spell for lvl. 1, 2, & 3. Now, does that mean I get one extra spell of that level to put into my spellbook, or does that apply to how many times I can prepare a spell of that level for that day? For example, I am allowed one extra Lv. 1 bonus spell, does that mean my daily allotment of spells I can cast on that day increases from one level one spell, to two level one spells I can cast on that day? Or does it apply to both, where I can cast more of that level a day and gain more spells of that level?

I hope that makes sense ^^^

Thank you for your cooperation. :)

You can cast one more spell per day of each of those levels. However, this does not let you cast higher level spells than you can normally cast, so you only get one bonus level 1 spell at first level. When you hit level 3, you'll have a bonus first level spell and a bonus second level spell.

Page 57 of the Player's Handbook has an entry titled spellbooks. It describes how many spells go into your spellbook at each level.
