Especially since the Favored Soul gets higher level spells slower than normal (ala sorcerer style). For instance, an ECL 6 Aasimar favored soul 5 would only have 2nd lvl spells whereas the ECL 5 human cleric 5 would already have 3rd lvl spells, and an extra feat to boot. If planning on taking some LA for your favored soul, I'd suggest looking at the Saint template from Book of Exalted Deeds. A Human Saint would get all the benefits of being human (feat and skills) plus the benefits of the template, which is a +2 LA template. However, the benefits of this template are much stronger and very well might be worth the hit to caster level (fast healing, DR, SR, boosted Save DCs, energy resistances and immunities, etc..) But optimization aside, its all a roleplaying question, and an Aasimer favored soul would still be quite viable. I like the idea of an Aasimar favored soul/paladin/first of raziel or favored soul/paladin/hospitaler or favored soul/paladin/pious templar. |

| StruckingFuggle03-21-06, 02:27 AM | Two things can make the Aasimar far better than the human in about every way:: One, the +0 LA Aasimar, somewhere on the Wizards D&D site. Two: LA-Buyoff. But if you're denied either of those, definitely go human, from an optimization standpoint. From a flavor standpoint, the Aasimar is much better, though. :) |
