In fact, I don't think there is any monk PrC that grants you proficiency with shield. As for the 3x cha thing. What are you talking about? |
| Patinho_Amarelo10-19-07, 01:45 PM | A friend in a game wich i play have a monk. He say has a PrC wich allow a monk to use a shield and retain his ac bonus, and he has 3x his cha in ac (Divine Shield, the feat of complete adventurer to monk sorcerer and another one i donīt know) I want to know the true. |

He say has a PrC wich allow a monk to use a shield and retain his ac bonus, and he has 3x his cha in ac (Divine Shield, the feat of complete adventurer to monk sorcerer and another one i donīt know) I want to know the true. First, if such a PrC exist, it's probably either homebrew or 3rd party. Second, Divine Shield is from CWar not CAdv. I don't have CWar, but from the feat description off WotC site, it doesn't look like what you said it does, or at least, the feat isn't a permanent effect but an activated one. |
| Patinho_Amarelo10-19-07, 01:58 PM | Divine Shiels is from Complete Warrior. I say another feat, wich allow the monk to use your cha instead your wis to determinate the AC Bonus. This feat is from Complete Adventurer. =p |
| Templario10-19-07, 02:12 PM | And how can he has Divine Shield when Monks do not receive turn undead? |
| Orenmir10-19-07, 02:12 PM | Dip into Psychic Warrior and grab the power - Force Screen. It acts as a shield +4, and doesn't takes Monk's AC bonuses away. |
| vorpo10-19-07, 02:13 PM | Divine Shiels is from Complete Warrior. I say another feat, wich allow the monk to use your cha instead your wis to determinate the AC Bonus. This feat is from Complete Adventurer. =p Name of the feat is? |
| dman1123510-19-07, 02:36 PM | Okay, that's 2x, and he can't use divine shield as he has no turn attempts, and it's cha in addition to a shield's bonus for a short period of time. I have a feeling that there's some illegal stacking as well. So I've gotten it down to cha once, unless there's some 3rd party source that's getting him Cha again, or homebrew. And there is no way to have a monk use a shield without losing the AC bonus. The shield spell gives you a shield bonus, but doesn't count as a shield. Ascetic Mage. Sorcerer/monk stack for stuff, and cha instead of wis. |
| Patinho_Amarelo10-19-07, 02:51 PM | Okay, wait a second. He is paladin\sorcerer\monk (I need to explain myself better) The feat name is: Ascetic Mage, form Complete Adventurer, he allowed you to use your cha instead the wis in the monk bonus ac. He SAY wich, somehow, he have a thing wich allowed him to use a shield without losing ac bonus from monk (Prestige Class he say) And he, still say, have a third souce to add his cha in CA, a insight bonus wich give your Char in CA. I belived wich is PrC of Eberron... but, i badly know this world. |
| dman1123510-19-07, 04:07 PM | BTW, are you the DM? In complete adventurer? I don't think so. The insight bonus to AC that is. Ascetic Mage is fine. Your spelling and grammar are making it hard to understand, but what it looks like* is that you're saying there's a feat in Complete Adventurer that gives you an insight bonus to AC equal to your charisma bonus. That is very, very wrong. *And he, still say, have a third souce to add his cha in CA, a insight bonus wich give your Char in CA. What I see: And he still says he has a third source to add his charisma in Complete Adventurer. An insight bonus which gives your Charisma (in Complete Adventurer). |

I belived wich is PrC of Eberron... but, i badly know this world. I've heard of a PrC called Argent Fist or the like... It was mentioned that it could get some monk goodies in armor. However, since I'm more of a FR guy, I don't have any Eberron books and don't know more. Anyway - the shield spell and the force screen powers might be more appropriate imo. Monk 6/PFist 10 can get you quite a lot, as can monk 6/PF4/Elocator 10, ideally with tashalatora for the elocator levels. |

The insight bonus isnīt in Cadv, i donīt know where he is. In Complete Adventurer have Ascetic Mage. Iīm sorry by the english, i will try wrire a little better now. ---- Argent Fist? A PrC wich allow a monk to use armor?? She exist?? |
| The_Shaman10-19-07, 06:45 PM | I'm not sure, I heard it mentioned somewhere, and sure enough, the consolidated PrC list says that there is such a PrC in Faiths of Eberron. If no one here knows more about it, maybe you should ask over at the Eberron board? P.S.: and if you only want a monk to wear armor, the divine fist and shou disciple retain some monk abilities in light armor. I presume you meant something heavier, right? |
| dman1123510-19-07, 07:23 PM | Ah, sorry then. I thought that was the case. I didn't mean to sound mean or anything. Don't worry too much about the english. Another option for an armored "monk" is Swordsage from Tome of Battle with the unarmed variant later in the class's description. But yeah, monk/x using the shield spell or forcescreen power would be better. Monk/psychic warrior with Tashalatora gets insane AC. |
| Fireclave10-19-07, 07:35 PM | The Argent Fist's Holy Armor ability allows a monk to retain his bonus to AC while in armor and carrying a shield. Argent Fist can be found in Faiths of Eberron. The Ascetic Mage feat allows you to use your charima modifier instead of your wisdom for determining your AC bonus, so there's no stacking there. Divine Shield, which is in the Complete Warrior, allows you to spend turn attempts to gain a bonus to your AC equal to your charisma modifier for a limited time. Can't be sure where the other bonuses to his AC could be coming from without more information, but this link should help: X stat to Y bonus (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=4584975#post4584975). |
| dman1123510-19-07, 11:01 PM | Did he take the paladin sub level from champions of valor? That gets cha to AC as opposed to saves. Okay, I now want to burn Faiths of Ebberron. An unarmored, yet armored combatant? Just no. Monk's should not use armor or shields! |
| Ninja_Ferret10-19-07, 11:12 PM | what about a dancing shield? :-p monks can do that. |
| dman1123510-20-07, 01:38 AM | No, it still counts as wielding it. |
