Under the abjurant armor ability, remove mention of “mage armor” at the end of the paragraph. The abjurant armor ability does not affect mage armor, but the spell is still useful to an abjurant champion.

I'm not going to gloat.

But I was right. And you* were wrong.

* You being any of the countless multitudes arguing against me on these boards, claiming that Abjurant Armor should work with Mage Armor. You know who you are.

Why does it read to me that Mage Armor works with Abjurant Armor? (I am a bit lazy to check the actual print in CDiv, was it?)

I never really thought that it did work with Abjurant Armour. But don't you think you sound a little petty creating a post just to point it out to everyone?

Everyone needs ego boost in some way or another... :P

Come now, pettyness makes the boards go round. :D

You obviously weren't part of those arguments if you think I am looking for an ego boost.

Perhaps it is a bit petty. It is satisfying, though.

But you weren't there with me, man, arguing with the naysayers! You don't know what it was like down in the trenches, trying to get people to see the light ;)

Normally, I'd just email RPGA for a rule check to shut them up faster and without much effort...

I don't think even that worked.

I don't think even that worked.

But at least you can stop the not-so-stupid ones from arguing. There is probably no hope for the rest so no point of arguing with those either once you got RPGA confirmations

Some people, even "not-so-stupid" ones, don't take the RPGA's rules as law.

But errata is widely held to be correct.

Well, that might be true. But still, the chances are RPGA will point out the errata if it existed

True, but the errata didn't exist until today :)

Actually... since the 'correction' in question is for page 51 and the abjurant armor discription is on page 50 then it's still obviously moronic... and the errata should have included fixing the prc name, the Shield Spell Champion.

I guess I don't know why there needed to be an errata to solve this. Mage Armor is conjruation. Abjurant Armor specifically only works with abjuration. Pretty cut and dry.

Granted, it said in the flavor text that it works with spells like Mage Armor, but it's always beem my understanding that the primary source trumps the flavor text.

Still, I guess it's nice to have clarified.

Really, and besides, I can think of three spells it works with. Shield, Luminous Armor, and Greater Luminous Armor.

Well, I don't/didn't think Mage Armor would work with Abjurant Champion, because the rule was too clear.

Technically, the Errata just means they patched up their mistake.
It does not guarrantee what they really thought of Mage Armor when they created Abjurant Champion.
It could have been their initial intention or just a plain mistake.
And even if it had been their intention, it was probably based on misinformation(assumption that Mage Armor is an abjuration).
Thus, it'd require a total overhaul of the class and naming to let it work with Mage Armor. It'd be too troublesome.
None would dare to do such a job, even if it had been their initial intention.
All in all, if there to be an errata, it was destined to be as the one just released, anyway.

I don't know of your debate with others. Perhaps you need a revenge(perhaps they do, too).
But this post does not look pretty, after all.

Not the first time I've seen errata have its own mistakes.

Won't be the last.

Nah, I don't need revenge. It was just a nice release on an old issue.

Those arguments were pretty heated, and it was my side getting most of the flack, unfortunately...

solution's still easy: research Abjuration versions of Greater / Mage Armor. :)

Just make sure that they are abjuration and abjure, rather than conjure, the force. Because that's what Mage Armor does. It conjures.

Precisely. That was my suggestion.
