I was looking over Abjurant Champion and noticed that according to the sample NPC in the book, Mage Armor a (conjuration/creation spell) receives the bonus to AC from the Abjurant Champions class level. His Mage Armor gives him a +9 AC.... I thought that the class ability only boosted AC and Shield bonuses to spells from the abjuration school. Has errata been released that I have just missed?

Mage armor is conjuring spell, but in my campaigns is a conjuring/Aburation spell

It was a mistake. They didn't notice it wasn't abjuration.

WotC doesn't like to edit much, playtest material, or put in useful things besides filler (Well, not WotC in general, but at least some of the guys they got workin' on Complete Mage. *cough*Skip*cough*). If they were, they'd notice there's like, 2 spells in the whole abjuration school that increase AC. If it looks like a mistake... it probably is.

I just thought it was very strange for them to build an entire class around 2 protection spells, one of which does not meet class' school requirement... I pointed out the error to my DM and he said mage armor and shield would both benefit from the class ability in his games, but I just wanted to make sure we had not missed something

not that I am aware of, ptorection from evil gratns a defelction bonus to AC, and the abjurant champion increases the bonus from spells that grant an armor or shield bonus.

My houserule is that the abjurant champion adds his level to all spells that provide a shield or armor bonus, and that spell becomes [abjuration] in addition to its normal school.

so mage armor, normally [conjuration], when cast by a 5th level abjurant champion becomes [conjuration][abjuration] and grants a +9 armor bonus.
