strumbleduck 05-03-06, 05:27 PM	The only way I know of to get a magical beast as an animal companion is to take the Exalted Companion feat from Book of Exalted Deeds. If that's what you did, then spells like animal growth no longer work on your companion, since he is no longer an animal. EDIT: Except that the feat in question says that they still work. My bad.
Tristan 05-03-06, 05:36 PM	wait, im confused, can we get some errata in the first paragraph "The companion is treated as a magical beast, not an anima, for the purpose of all effects that depend on its type(though it retains an animal's HD, bA, saves, skill points, and feats. but in the share spells "A druid and her animal companion can share spells even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the companion's type (animal)" does this mean that even if the druid cast a spell on her that effects humanoids it could effect her companion that spells that only work on animals can still effect them or that the companion's type is animal or what?

That's funny because the exact wording of the feat says "Even though your companion is a magical beast you can still cast spells on it as thought it were an animal."

Hmm . . . apparently I should have looked at the text of that feat before posting. I'll change the text of my earlier post. In any case, I bet the OP was confused because of the obsolete animal-companions-always-become-magical-beasts rule.
