About the warblade's lightning throw maneuver [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-01-07, 01:53 PM My friends and I were arguing yesterday about how this maneuver works and i've tried searching on the boards if it had been answered before but it would seem it has not. So here's the question : Do you need to hit the creature AC when using the maneuver ( lightning throw ) or does it work similar to an area spread spell so that they only get a save to make to determine if you deal damage. I'm a little confused on this because it says : " You deal damage to each creature in the area equal to your normal melee damage. "

Hope i'm making my self clear enough, if you guys could it would be appreciated.

12-01-07, 02:22 PM Maneuvers overwright all the normal rules for attacking. Lightning Throw says you make an attack roll and use that to set the reflex save DC. So that's what you do, nothing more and nothing less. You don't have to hit any creature's AC.

I should mention that I didn't check Magocrat's Tome Of Battle Q&A before responding.

12-01-07, 06:57 PM Thanks for the reply and as for magocrat's faq, i had checked it quickly for the answer and I couldn't find anything. It probably was never asked. It seems my DM was wrong in this one :)
