| Good07-31-05, 05:34 PM | Absorb spell says you must make a save, then you can choose to absorb the spell for your own use. If you fail that check, the spell functions normally. Is that normally as if you failed the save, or normally, failling it because you failed that check. The reason I think it's the former, rather than the latter, is because the odds are highly against a spellthief absorbing a spell as is. Frequently, they'll have a mere 50/50 chance. While I find that perfectly reasonable, but because they'd already have to SUCEED on the save against the spell, that's two rolls to steal the spell. Again, that's probably okay so long as that isn't two rolls to FAIL as well. Anyone hear anything about this or have thoughts on the subject? Good. |
| Torack08-01-05, 01:26 AM | Normally as in you suffer the effect of the spell, unless it requires a save to negate/sustain partial damage, then you also get the appropriate save. As such stealing a magic missile memorized spell(lvl 1) can either result in absorbing it, or 1d4+1 damage. |
