Acsension by Class [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-07, 06:01 PM Alright, a player in my group wants to play a class that would eventually change his type to pretty much anything other than humanoid. He wants to roleplay the part of becoming something else, but is too damned indecisive about what to play.

He doesn't want to play a monk or dragon disciple and that is all I can think of off the top of my head. He wants something with good martial ability and a touch of magic. Any help would be appreciated.

06-14-07, 06:35 PM Well, why not just have him be a battle sorceror and roleplay him turning into something else as he takes sorceror heritege feats? Eventually at high levels you could even just ahve that instead of gaining lvls he sinks his xp into gaining a template of some kind.

Who cares about material wealth and power when time slowly grinds everything that you've worked hard to achieve into little more than dust? Here are the few prestige classes that offer paths to becoming an ascendant (in order of supplements).

Complete Arcane

Acolyte of the Skin: spellcaster who wears a fiendish skin that slowly transforms him into a fiendish outsider.

Alienist: spellcaster whose madness slowly strips away its identity, and turns him/her into a pseudonatural outsider.

Elemental Savant: 'nuff said.

Green Star Adept: near indestructible construct.

Complete Divine

Contemplative: divine spellcaster whose self-reflection uncovers the divinity within (ageless, immune to poison/diseas, native outsider)

Divine Crusader: native outsider agent of gods

Frostburn

Cloud Anchorite: true immortal

Rimefire Witch: fey

Winterhaunt of Iborighu: evil ice elemental

Sandstorm

The Walker in the Waste: dry lich

The following prestige classes are from the Forgotten Realm setting.

Glorious Servitor (Lost Empires): native outsider

Divine Disciple (Player's Guide): native outsider

Talontar Blightlord (Unapproachable East): plant creature (think Poison Ivy on steroids)
