Given the amount of spells that can be cast as swift actions, free actions and immediate actions.(this is only increased by feats, DMM Quicken, Quicken, Sudden Quicken and items:Metamagic Rod quicken) Spells for the most part are more powerful than attacks. How many feats, maneuvers, skill tricks or other things allow you to take advantage of actions.

I can think of a few. (but not very many)
Elusive Target allows you to change the target of the bonus from your dodge feat as an immediate action.

Tiger's leap (I think that's what it's called) allows you to jump as a swift action. (does this allow you to exceed your movement or leap after you have moved then attacked? resulting in a true spring attack)

The entire Tome of Battle is about helping melee characters get as much utility out of their actions as spellcasters.

Strikes as Standard Actions (instead of always full attacking), Boosts as Swift and Counters as Immediate.

If you're talking about attacks, you realize a that BAB of fighter-type classes give you more attacks then a spellcaster could ever cast spells in one round without some Epic buffing.

Yeah, but a Full Attack is just one action, and you can't do anything other than full attack that turn (Except maybe a swift or free action.

Casters can throw a quickened spell, then move 30 feet, then cast a normal spell. These can be any spell the caster can cast at the moment, meaning the caster is effectively acting twice in one turn!

Hmm *cough* Spring Attack *cough* and if you want attacking twice take a prestige class that give the ability or a Warblade with Time Stands Still.

And this is why I play casters. I never have and never will play a straight tank.

Is that because the rules obviously favor casters, or because you find the idea of swinging a sword abhorrent?

I just find more options available to me as a caster. I feel that I can do more, contribute more, just have more fun overall. What can tanks do? "I charge the monster and swing my greataxe. Is he still standing? Ok, I swing again." Good for you.

I'm not saying that no one should ever play a tank. If that's what you enjoy, then go ahead, smash away! I'm just saying that I would never want to play one.

I have played non-casters before. Mostly rogue types (which is why I LOVE the
Beguiller!). I've even played a LG Exalted Saint Monk, which is VERY odd for me (I'm usually neutral leaning towards evil).

CA has that feat which lets casters concentrate on a spell as a move action.

Thus, a cleric could maintain, say, implosion or storm of vengeance as a move action with a successful concentration check (dc25+spell lv?), cast a quickened spell (via DMM perhaps) and another spell as a standard action. That's 3 spells a round pre-epic.
