Hi,

I have been asked by my DM to look at becoming a Horizon Walker, apparently it will fit with his future ideas, and my character was looking for a direction. However, my character is a 3rd lvl Bard / 3rd lvl mage, and the Horizon Walker is much more suited for a fighter/ranger class as written. My DM has suggested adapting the class to fit better with bardic/mage orientation.

I have some initial ideas, but know that there are some class developer experts on these boards, so thought I would throw the idea open to obtain their input.

Here are my initial ideas:

1. More Bard orientated

Requirements -
Feat - ?
Skills - Knowledge wider range

Class Skills -
Similar to HW, but swap profession with perform, handle animal with concentration, Tumble (Need to check further on this bit, but skills required by terrain types would seem sensible!! e.g. swim)

BAB progression up to +7
Hit points d6
You gain same terrain mastery benefits, but you gain +1's to attack terrain creatures by use of of singing (humming under water!!!)
Stack lvl of HW with bard for lvls of bardic music per day - not additional song types. But increase to +2 at certain point.
Possible use song for some other options as fascinate on terrain animal?
Proceed in level of spell casting class, if more than one choose to which to apply, normal limitations on familiars, turning etc.

2. More mage orientated -

Requirements -
Feat - ?
Skills - ?

Class Skills -
Similar to HW, but swap profession with spellcraft, handle animal with concentration, (Need to check further on this bit, but skills required by terrain types would seem sensible!! e.g. swim)

BAB progression up to +5
Hit points d4
You gain same terrain mastery benefits.
But the +1 insight bonus used when casting spells DC? (Or alternatively offer spell resistance to magic types depending upon terrain description?)
Proceed in level of spell casting class, if more than one choose to which to apply, normal limitations on familiars, turning etc.

OK now I bow to the maestro's of class development!! I am especially interested in having fun and being creative ;)

Look forward to your thoughts,

BW

Mark.
