He remembered the screams of his family as they ran terrified from the house when all he could do was stand there and gaze on the majesty of it all. The way the blaze consumed everything, the grace as the flames leapt from room to room and the roar in his ears as everything he had ever known went up in smoke. That's when the fascination had started. All through his life fire had been his focus and passion. He supposed that's why these fools had come to kill him. The underworld boss they worked for was known for his love of irony. Too bad he couldn't take a joke...it had only been a car after all and it hadn't even been a large fire! Sparky started to cackle as they threw molatovs at him and started up their flame throwers. Sparky opened his arms to embrace an old friend. And when the inferno consumed his clothes and hair he cackled harder. The thugs didn't laugh when he emerged from the flames and showed them the true nature of The Inferno. Sparky had never been a big fan of Irony anyway. An Adept of the Fire Blade is a man or woman that simply enjoys fire very much. The grace, the power of fire. They like its perfection, and beauty. An Adept's personality can be compared to a fierce flame: combative, not really subtle, but very efficient nonetheless. Requirements: To classify to become an Adept of the Fire Blade, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Base Attack Bonus: +5 Base Fortitude Save: +4 Skills: Concentration 6 ranks. Feats: Armor Proficiency (all), Child of Fire, Focused, Great Fortitude, Martial Weapon Proficiency (all), Power Attack Special: Must have at least 1 point of Fire Resistance. If that attack hit, the victim must roll a Reflex save DC 10 or Catch on fire (Rules for catching on fire on page 213 of the CRB). If the blade is not an Imbued Weapon, it takes 1 points of fire damage per attack (even non-fire touch one, hardness not counted) until it becomes too weak and break, or is repaired. Imbue Weapon: This ability gives the Adept of the Fire Blade the power to imbue a weapon to resist the power that flows through it. An imbued weapon doesn't take damage from the Fire Touch and Flaming Wrath abilities. Imbuing a weapon takes 10 minutes; if a weapon has not been held by the Adept for more than one day, he must imbue it again. Fire Resistance: The Adept of the Fire Blade's fire resistance increase by 2. Flaming Wrath: At 3rd level, an Adept of the Fire Blade can, once per day, set his blade on fire by letting his power flow through it. A Flaming Wrath attack deals normal damage, plus 1d6 and the victim of every attack must make a Reflex save DC 15 or Catch on fire. This ability last for one round per Adept's level. If the weapon used is not an imbued weapon, it suffers 1d4+1 points of fire damage per round (ignore all hardness). At 6th level, and Adept can use this ability twice per day, and thrice per day at 9th level. Bonus Feat: At 4th and 8th level, an Adept of the Fire Blade gains a bonus feat. This feat must be selected from the following list, and the Adept must me any prerequisite. Athletic, Brawl, Cleave, Combat Reflex, Endurance, Great Cleave, Improved Bull Rush, Toughness. Fire Absorb: Once per day, an Adept can absorb fire damage for this round instead of resisting it. All damage absorbed goes to HPs (an Adept can exceed his max HP, but these are only temporary). The Adept add his level to his fire resistance for this round. Using this ability is a free action and must be declared at the beginning of the round. Fiery Rage: At 7th level, the Adept of the Fire Blade may, once per day, enter a devastating, fiery frenzy. He will ignite himself, consuming everything he is wearing (clothes, weapons except imbued one, etc.) except his hair and body hairs (or fur, for that matter). If the Adept wield an Imbued Weapon while he enters his rage, it will autimatically catch on fire and benefit the Flaming Wrath ability for as long as the rage last. While the Adept is "raging", he gains a +2 bonus to Strength and Constitution, a -2 penalty to Defense and everything he touches barehanded (or attack with an imbued weapon) will catch on fire as per Flaming Wrath ability. This rage lasts for 5 + Con. modifier round, after which the Adept will be Exhausted (or Fatigued on a successful Fortitude save DC 20). The fire will resorb as the rage ends; if the Adept is knocked unconscious or killed, the rage will end. Everything the adept is wearing takes damage as if "caught on fire". Greater Fire Resistance: At 10th level, the fire resistance of the Adept increases by 2. This stacks with other Fire Resistance the Adept may have gained. Child of Fire Fire is your friend! Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus to all saves against magical and non-magical fire. ----- EDIT (November 4th at 10:34AM): Thanks to Wiley for his great flavor text! :D EDIT (November 4th at 1:09PM): Added the 10th level progression, and some new abilities. | Frank_Vinneti11-04-03, 10:47 AM | C'mon people! I've added some flavor text Wiley made, just for you! Please comment everyone! Frankto |
| Darkest9011-04-03, 10:53 AM | I like it. Although, I think Fire Immunity would be good to place somewhere in there, or some kind of fireball or ranged fire attack. But then again, this is the Adept of the Fire Blade. So, yeah, for that name your abilities fit perfectly. I would actually like to see another unique ability in place of the bonus feat. Oh, BTW, the flavor text was very cool. |
| Frank_Vinneti11-04-03, 11:15 AM | Tell that to Wiley (http://boards1.wizards.com/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=257904), who made the great flavor text! And this Wiley suggested a 10th level progression. See this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122988) for more information. Keep in mind that this was based on Makoto Shishio, from the anime Rurouni Kenshin. Thanks for the nice comment :) Frankto |
| Darkest9011-04-03, 11:49 AM | Well, I always like to help out another person by commenting! This is a community, and I dislike it when people aren't communicating. Commune is the key word to both of those words, and some people don't realize it. I don't watch a lot of Anime, so I don't think I could relate to this Makoto Shishio, but I bet a lot of other people will. If you haven't already, I'd submit it to the Prestige Class Compendium so that it doesn't get deleted. |
| Frank_Vinneti11-04-03, 12:20 PM | Hm, 3 things: 1: You're absolutely right, people should communicate with each other, and comment on those who put time and effort in making free prestige classes. 2: Uh, Prestige Class Compendium? 3: Huh... Deleted!?  :b: :( Frankto |
| Darkest9011-04-03, 12:24 PM | 2. The Prestige Class Compendium is a sticky topic at the top of the Prestige Class forum. It is an archive for all the prestige classes and records all the prestige classes you write. And, I think the moderators are going to delete a lot of threads Nov. 5th, and yours might be one of them, so you should keep it safe until after that so you can repost them. |
| Frank_Vinneti11-04-03, 12:34 PM | How the :censored: could I miss that? lol! I'll try and post them there, and also: All my prestige class are saved in a text on my HD, so they are safe :) Frankto |
