Advanced Learning Q? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-13-08, 05:59 AM I've got a question regarding the Advanced Learning ability that certain classes get (Dread Necromancer, Warmage, Unseen Seer, etc.). Does the spell learned via this class ability replace one of the spells the class would normally get at that level, or is it in addition to all any any other spells gained?

I would say it's the latter, but some players in my group are reading it the other way, and none of us are native English speakers, so we might be missing something ;)

03-13-08, 06:54 AM it's in addition to the ones you already have (at least for beguilers (PHBII) and unseen seers it is)
notably, this is nice for someone with very few spells known (like a sorcerer taking unseen seer as a PrC)

03-13-08, 11:41 PM For classes whose spells-known is the same as their class-list, yes, obviously, it is in addition to the other spells they know of that level. It couldn't really work any other way.

For others, like the Seer, the ability description should clearly state the mechanics of the situation, for example, it says "you can add a new spell to your spell book or list of spells known."
