Sisyfos 01-19-06, 07:17 PM	Lets say that I have a 10 level PrC that has its own spell level progression (I am thinking of Ur-Priest in particular) and I take 2 levels in it. Then I take other PrCs which add to my spellcasting capabilities for 8 more levels. Then I still have levels to take. Can I boost the caster level of my 1st PrC any further even if they do not have spell table progression beyond the 10th level? I know I sound confusing, but that is caused by me being confused about this matter. The build I am thinking is: Bard3/monk2/Ur-Priest2/Sacred-fist7/contemplative2 This build has caster level 11,5 at this point (is it rounded down or up by the way?). Now I can take a feat like practiced spellcaster to boost the casterlevel to 15,5. But what then? I still have 4 more levels to take. I was thinking of taking the hierophant levels and getting some nifty abilities and boosting my Ur-Priest caster level, but can I give the hierophant levels to my Ur-priest casting according to the rules? The problem is that my Ur-Priest casting has already been maxed to level 10 by 2 from UP, 6 from SF and 2 from contemplative. I do understand that no additional spells would be added to the spells I could cast, but what about the caster level issue? Sisyfos
Otto the Bugbear 01-19-06, 07:52 PM	Good question. I'd say no, you can't increase caster level in the way you describe. I can't site any specific rule. It's just a gut feeling on how I'd rule it, if it were to ever come up. The edge of my brain says that this ruling was made some time ago, but I've been wrong in the past... 10 minutes. So, take that for what it's worth. (and consider it a free bump, with no actual logical rules, errata, or FAQ cited.) Cheers Otto :)
Sisyfos 01-20-06, 02:50 AM	Thanks Otto, I had the feeling that there would be no official ruling for this issue and your "lack of knowledge" (a weird term to link you ;) ) does strenghten that suspicion. So, if anyone has knowledge on the matter I would be grateful, otherwise I'll just leave this matter as one of those things for DM to judge. Sisyfos

In the epic rules, when you advance a spellcasting class past 20th-level (beyond the spell table progression), you do not gain any additional spells known or spells per day. It ends at 20th-level. But your caster level does continue to increase. I would assume this would be the same for 10 level prestige classes once you hit that ceiling. I believe that caster level will still increase: it just does not gain you any additional spell progression, like you mentioned.
