hey all..

I play a lesser Drow 1 rogue/ 4 monk / 5 poison fist (spider)

I'm basically trying to get ideas as to where to go from here. I could continue the Poison Fist, but i kinda wanna beef him up some. i play him sneaky, so sneak attacks would be nice. and even though i have some of the pressure point attacks (stunning, falling star, etc) the Fortitude DC for them is 20 and and any decent fighter type we go up against is strong enough to shrug the effects off.

I use agile reposte to get off extra attacks/sneak attacks, but i need to pump him up without straying too far from the original concept.

Thanks in advance.

since u have a level in rouge already, i'd say add a few more rouge lvls then add a few levels in Monk of the Long death, thats always a fun combo ^_^

Well, if you're playing him really sneaky then I would suggest avoiding direct confrontation with the more pure-bred melee warriors and, instead, focus on taking down the enemy spellcasters and other 'rougish' types; that is what monk-based characters excel at anyway. For SV at DC 20 for your different stunning fist and stun-variants is pretty good and will be deadly against those types mentioned.

I mean, Stunning Attack vs. enemy caster leaves them w/o Dex bonus, so you get sneak damage on your next attack (combo this with FoB, and you can potentially get sneak damage the same round). Plus, they cannot act for that round AND they drop whatever they were holding (i.e wands, staffs, rods, potions, etc...). Talk about nullifying a HUGE weapon in the opponents camp...!

IMO, of cousrse. I would choose to advance in any of the classes you already have. I'm not familiar enough with Poison Fist to say, but if you take level 5 monk you gain an additional +1 to your AC (assuming you don't wear armor) and you become immune to natural disease and poisons AND your FoB improves to -1 instead of -2. If you take level 5 rogue your sneak attack improves +1d6...

I would actually improve my monk level, but that's just me, and without any knowledge of Poison Fist PrC...

thanx for the input.

at the moment, i'm now considering taking a level or three of the Swordsage from Tome of Battle (i think that's the right class), and follow the shadow hand style for a bit.

the problem is that our group does not have a specific fighter/tank character, and so my monk is the default fighter. enemy casters and such are no problem at all. but things like the troll barbarian fighter we just fought give me reason to cry a little. I needed to roll a nat 20 just to hit, and forget about him failing the Fort Vs DC 20. he was also protectiing itself from fire.:weep:

I would get rid of the Monk + Rogue, and go Swordsage (Shadow Hand focus).
It cleans up your ablities abit more, the Discipline (Shadow Hand) gives you some really good rogueish ablities.

I agree. Any chance your dm would allow you to completely retrain your character from the beginning??

I only ask because most campaigns follow the 20% xp hit for not having the right balance of multi-class. Also, since a ssage focused on shadow hand maneuvers seems ideal, you're really going to want to pick up some of the class features right from the beginning.

I would pick up 2 more levels of monk for the reduced FoB penalty and the monk bonus feat
