| Bardack06-30-07, 10:25 AM | I recently got involved in a local game that is Ravenloft based, however all divine classes are banned. So I've been trying to find a good setup to throw into a mass of undead that does not involve Cleric or Paladin, all help would be appreciated. |

If not, that would be a good one, choose Undead as a Favored enemy and if you can, be an Elf and take the Racial substitution level which puts Fav Enemy Undead at +3 instead of +2. Also, Rangers get TWF, which would be good, use a slashing weapon, and a blugeoning weapon to bypass the DR most undead have. |

Take spells such as disrupt undead, shield, mage armor, magic missile, mirror image, scorching ray, daylight, flame arrow, displacement, etc. i.e. put up some reasonable defenses and just pile on the offensive spells into them. Wizard and bard are alternatives. Wizard has issues with having to memorize spells, which often means you run out of useful spells unless you know exactly that you are facing. The bard lacks a lot of offensive spells against undead, but is just about your only source of healing and buffing without divines. |

Sure, they're usually evil, but they get bonuses to the few anti-undead spells on the wizard list. If you go bard, make sure to take the Requiem feat from Libris Mortis; it allows your bardic music abilities to affect undead. |
| Bardack06-30-07, 05:06 PM | I'll check into the ranger option, druids are currently allowed so 'no divine' may have been a tad too broad. The objective, I believe, was to limit anyone with a clear cut advantage vs. undead. I toyed with the idea of a bard just because I'm a skill junkie, but ended up settling on a rogue, since there was no real utility class in the group. With the mortality rate that seems to be developing in the campaign there is a good chance I'll end up giving all these options a whirl, thanks for the advice. |
