| Prince_of_Parkness03-14-08, 09:04 PM | I've had a recent passion to play a martial PC who uses aikido moves, and was wondering how to achieve this. Firstly, without Tome of Battle (since I don’t have it yet): I was thinking a human monk with the following feats: 1st level: Improved unarmed strike, Improved grapple (monk), Dodge (1st level), combat expertise (human), 2. Combat reflexes (monk) 3. Mobility 6. Improved trip (monk), Defensive throw 9. Elusive target These custom made weapon style feat may also be used, although I need to know if they are balanced or not before I show them to any DM Down to the Ground (Style) Preq: Str 13, Wis 15, Improved unarmed strike, Weapon focus (unarmed strike), unarmed minimum damage 1d10 Benefit: When making a unarmed full attack you may spend two successive attacks to use this ability. First you need to hit your opponent. You may use your grapple modifier for this attack and the target does not get an opposed role. If you succeed the target it not considered grappled, you have merely established a grip on it and may proceed. Make another unarmed attack. This one deals damage and if it hits the opponent must make a fort save (DC 10+1/2 your character level+wis mid) or fall prone Leading the Way (Style) Preq: Preq: Str 13, Wis 15, Improved unarmed strike, Weapon focus (unarmed strike), improved bullrush, unarmed minimum damage 1d10 Benefit: If you successfully hit an opponent two times with an unarmed strike you may forgo damage of the second attack in order to initiate bullrush attempt as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. You need not move to perform this, but the opponent doesn’t provoke an attack of opportunity for leaving your threatened space. 2. Assuming I get Tomb of Battle before I start playing this character, how would that change things? I was thinking a setting sun focused sword sage (with a couple of diamond mind maneuvers). Any other disciplines that are aikido-ish? |

Not sure if it matters but I dont neccisarily want an aikido monk, I want an aikido PC, I just thought monk was the best class for that. |
| The_Shaman03-16-08, 01:13 AM | Well, most of the feats were updated in Dragon 318 or CWarrior anyway. I can point you towards the Crystalkeep feat compendium http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Feats.pdf but I don't think it has OA info. |
