I've given up on Jordan's series years ago, but I wonder if anyone here has ever see an attempt to illustrate him into a d20 chracter (class(es)/level(s)/feats/skills).

according to the story line, he's supposed to be very thin on skills, but incredibly heavy on feats.

anyone wants to give it a go ?
(just try to stick to the story, or at least the spirit of the character)

Well, I'd figure something like Fighter 13/Ranger 3 with maybe a few levels in Knight Protector.

Out of curiosity, do you know that there's a Wheel of Time d20 campaign setting? In which Al'Lan is entire statted-out?
Might be worth checking out, if you like his work.
Outside of that, I'd suggest checking out the Character Optimisation boards, they're better at this kind of thing. And, I must say, I very much disagree that he has a lack of skills.
He has at the very least a pretty good spot, listen, hide, move silently and survival (tracking) skill. I wouldnt call that a lack of skills :P

Describe the story/fluff of him please.

You currently described a Fighter (low skills, but heavy feats).

let's just say that this guy caused many famous and infamous war veterans to do the genie-dropping-his-chin routine (those he didn't send to meet their maker). he was a king that lost his kingdom (and was the only survivor of a great war), a nomad, but where ever he went, kings and queens humbled befor him.

I doubt it if 16 levels could ever sum up such a legendary hero (by far the number one in his continent).

Remember to give him point's in concentration. That's the only way his head hasn't exploded from being near Nynanve for too long.

A little more than what Nonsi gave:

Lan was born as heir to the Kingdom of Malkeri, a kingdom on the border of what is called the Blight. The Blight is the physical manifestation of the corruption of Shait'an (the Dark One) who's reach into the world originates from inside the Blight.

While he is still an infant, Lan's Uncle leads an attack that eventually causes the destruction of Malkeri. Lan is given the rights of a 'Diademed Battle Lord' and send to the south to survive. He is trained in military arts before which time he is bonded as a Warder. Warders are the bodyguards of the worlds magic users, the Aes Sedai (female only). Through this bonding, they gain extra stamina and endurance.

Over the last several years, Lan has been Warder to a woman named Moraine who is involved in finding a psuedo-Messiah.

Comparatively, I don't see Lan having many more levels than 18 or 19. The 13 levels of Fighter puts him far ahead of most people in fighting ability. The few levels in Ranger give him the tracking ability. If he takes that feat that gives him extra skills, and if he has a higher INT, he's got enough skills and skill points to choose from. The Knight Protector I mention because there isn't a specific Warder per se in the non-WoT books, so I felt that was an appropriate fit.

Aglemar probably is about the same number of levels, but a few of them would be Aristocrat/Noble. Same for Niall. Outside of Rand and the Forsaken, I doubt too many people have that many levels in WoT.

**Note: This is all being done without the WoT CS book. It may say differently**

Low skills? I doubt that. If I recall, his swim is quite good, as per something I probably shouldn't mention if you gave up reading the series (my memory is hazy, but there was something I'm sure). His track-based skills are most definitely good as he had that habit of hunting Trollocs in the Blight, which also necessitates Survival. Autohypnosis seems a very likely choice for Aan'allein.

. It'd be more accurate to create overpowered, custom classes. Perhaps Malkieri Soldier as a core class, with Warder as a prestige class, for instance.

I s'pose you could just make him high level... in which case I'd suggest fighter/ranger (alternating each level). Knight Protector probably isn't needed, though I understand the theory. Warder as a prestige class seems kind of necessary to make a good interpretation.

I suppose classes with 2 + Int class skills isn't a problem if we assume that Lan has extremely good ability scores, at least in everything except Charisma (11-12 in that, perhaps)? I'm sure he could lead Borderlanders and even rule them, but it wouldn't be charisma that caused them to respect him.

If there's one word to describe him, it's accomplished. Lan has no magical ability, but aside from that area of expertise he's an expert on just about anything and can do just about anything. The appropriate knowledge ranks alone make 'heavy on feats but light on skills' a nonsensical statement.

I agree with Esponer that you really need one or more custom classes that are really overpowered. D&D is based on classes that have specific areas of expertise, not on classes that are really, really good at a whole lot of things.

I like the way he is statted out in the book:
Armsman 10/ Warder 4/ Blademaster 2
Armsman is almost identical to fighter, Blademaster is the Weapon Master from Oriental Adventures (and the last prestige class in Sword and Fist, which may have had the same name).
Warder is a combat class that gives him a cloak of elvenkind, some nice feats, and some defensive abilities (Uncanny dodge and the like)

The only problem is he is shorted on the skill points.

BTW: WoT PRG is a neat book. It contains the main characters statted out, prc's like Asha'man, Gleeman, and Wolfbrother (think Perrin), and a cool magic system.
