Xaden 12-13-06, 10:51 PM	I was wondering if there are any Alchemist classes out there... I saw the thread about the alchemist class based on the show full metal alchemist but I dont like it in the DnD setting... its wierd coming up with, essentialy, different magics... thats also why I dont like psions too much. So if anyone knows of any leave a message or post a link, Id be very grateful. Maybe I'll jsut make my own... Thanks all, very much,
PoorHobo 12-13-06, 11:09 PM	Thers an alchemist prc in Magic of Eberron. Although of the top of my head I can't remember how good it is. It advances spellcasting, I know that much.
nastynate 12-13-06, 11:44 PM	You have two ways to go about this. You can use adepts with craft (alchemy), to give you a very basic npc alchemist, or you can delve a little deeper into something more Faust-like, such as a sorcerer with fiendish heritage feats. No matter how you spin it, the spellcasting requirements of craft (alchemy) make it all but pointless; you can just brew potions and make magical items instead. Alchemy in general, is not very powerful in a world with real magic, unless you create some really potent alchemical substances and items. It is also a profession that involves laboratories, research, and oodles of down time, so its not particularly well suited to adventuring (aka PC classes). The Alchemist-like PrC from Magic of Eberron is more based on potions and spellcasting than actual alchemy, so its probably not what you are looking for. There is however, a nice 3rd party sourcebook called Alchemy and Herbalists that has exactly what you want (new alchemical items and classes); you should be able to find it on Amazon with little trouble. -Peace-
