Alignment chang --> consequenses? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-09-07, 05:34 PM What would happen if a wizard turns evil, get a level or two or Ur-Priest, and then becomes good?

Does the wiz/ur-priest lose the ability to use any ur-priest class abilities (spell use being one of them)?

"What happens to a warlock who changes his alignment to LG, LN, NG, or N?

A warlock who isn’t evil or chaotic can’t gain any further levels as a warlock, but doesn’t lose any class features or suffer any other penalty."

So I think that take a couple of levels would be okay, as long as the wiz don't try to take more levels of Ur-Priest...

08-10-07, 02:17 PM Complete Divine doesn't say, but here's my interpretation: ur-priests don't draw power from being evil, as blackguards or paladins of tyranny/slaughter might; rather, ur-priests are evil because of how they get their power (In short: I think using ur-priest abilities is the cause, and being evil is the effect). As such, becoming neutral or good isn't really a big risk. If the wizard/ur-priest stops preparing ur-priest spells, then he might go neutral or good, but even then, although he's forgone use of his ur-priest abilities (and can't advance), he hasn't forgotten them. If he wants to prepare/steal spells again as an ur-priest, he can still do so, and would then swiftly go back to being evil as a result of continuing to use ur-priest abilities.

08-10-07, 02:52 PM Any class that looses abilities when it changes alignment should say so, normally near the end of the class description. Otherwise, you keep all abilities, though you obviously cannot gain any more levels in that class since you no longer qualify for it.
