| Sacul Kamadaka06-23-04, 03:27 PM | Has some one made a paladin variant that that choses alignment like a cleric? |
| Szatany06-23-04, 03:46 PM | I didn't, but i did paladin class that can be of any good alignment (and that choice determines some of her special abilities). I also did similar class, the scourge, but for evil guys. If you wanna take a look, links are below in my sig. |
| Sacul Kamadaka06-23-04, 04:46 PM | Thats what I mean but of any alignment. |
| BlaineTog06-23-04, 05:00 PM | Yes and no. My Fist of God (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=3087753#post3087753) Class is supposed to be a martial Cleric, but its got some of the Paladin's shtick as well. Its also horribly overpowered. :D I need to fix that one of these days... |
| The GOP Dragon07-08-04, 03:41 PM | I don't think so, Paladins are supposed to be the very embodiment of good and law, but if you want something more flexible, check Unearthed Arcana, it might have what you are looking for. |

Namle as CG, CE and LE base class "paladins" |
| Thorak07-08-04, 07:40 PM | While I see the role CE, LE, and CE champions would play in the game, they shouldn't be called 'paladins' of any variation, and their abilities should be entirely different. For the same reason that Fighters aren't called Anti-Wizards. The anti-paladin, made by 'flipping' all the Good abilities of the paladin into Evil things, is an anachronism, especially since most people make him CE. You could make a case for a LE anti-paladin type, but there's absolutely no reason a CE champion would be knightly in any kind of way, even to having the corrupt code of 'ethics' anti-paladins follow. |
| The GOP Dragon07-08-04, 09:02 PM | I agree with Thorak, a paladin of any other alignment is no paladin at all. Personally I didn't like that idea of a chaotic and/or evil paladin i just thought my suggestion would help. |
| DaTedinator07-08-04, 10:09 PM | Well actually: Main Entry: pal·a·din Pronunciation: 'pa-l&-d&n Function: noun Etymology: French, from Italian paladino, from Medieval Latin palatinus courtier, from Late Latin, imperial official -- more at PALATINE 1 : a trusted military leader (as for a medieval prince) 2 : a leading champion of a cause From the Merriam-Webster online dictionary. A leading champion of a cause could be for any cause. Just my (and m-w's) two cp. :D |
| The GOP Dragon07-08-04, 10:17 PM | Yeah, well the D&D concept of a paladin is a champion of justice. Again, if you feel that a paladin should have different alignments, they did it nicely in Unearthed Arcana. |
| Romulus LoneWolf07-08-04, 11:13 PM | I've already made a post concerning my idea for Paladins of alignments other then LG: My idea for Paladins of altered alignments (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=272322) To sum it up: Paladins can be any Non-Evil alignment, but usually choose an alignment matching that of a patron deity. Likewise, rather then the Paladin's code, they take up a code of conduct inspired by their patron deity. Also, with the Knight Training feat from Eberron, they can multiclass into an appropriate class for their patron deity's cause (thus, the Paladin of a woodland goddess could multiclass into Ranger, while a CG one of a savage wargod could multiclass into Barbarian) Didn't post it, but I'd have Blackguards serve as the Anti-Paladins of choice, beholden to the Fiend Lords of the setting against the Gods. |

Note I'm in the group the don't call the other (un)holy Champions Paladins. |
