This is, as of right now, a bit of brainstorming rather than an actual class, but here goes:

The general idea is to create a class that is more like a jack-of-all-trades than a wandering pop diva. To that end, I have two ideas:

1) A somewhat more combat-oriented Blue Mage that can also learn just about anything taught to him, not just spells (BlaineTog usually gets involved in new classes; check his sig for a link to the Blue Mage once he gets here.)

2) A Bard that loses Bardic Music in exchange for access to more of your typical Mage 'n Cleric spells (like Fireball, Fly, and Teleport), but perhaps not the most powerful types (like Harm and Raise Dead). Also toss in a few levels where they'd get a bonus of their choice in an area in which they were especially talented. Like +1 BAB or Casting in Med. Armor for combat people, or perhaps a small bonus to skills, HP, or saves. Hey, maybe it could have a couple "Loremaster Secrets" charts to choose from, each based on a different ability score that affected a different "specialty": Str for Melee, Dex for Archery/TWF, Con for enduring (plus to saves & hp), and Int for Skills/Spellcasting.

Oh yes, and I think that the Jack should be Int-based; they're *learning* to be a JoAT by picking up a little bit of everything from here and there.

Whaddya think?
