Alternate Binder class feature question [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-28-07, 01:44 AM I want to make a class variant for the binder similar to the cloistered cleric from UA. What I want is a more skilled binder as I seen some as being like sages for binders. My goal is to get all knowledges as class skills and increasing my skill points from 2 to hopefully 6. In doing this I do not want to lose BAB as I think that the binder needs it too much to survive unlike the cleric who has 9th level spells that give negate the need for BAB and can provide him full BAB if he wants. So can it be done or am I hoping for too much?

First thought remove all armor prof and reduce weapons to wizard weapons. I think this might give 4 skill points per level but might not be good enough for 6 but what do you think?

07-28-07, 11:21 AM Well I'd definitely mess with the augmentations for bonuses on like knowledge checks and other scholarly junk. If you lower the power of those slightly, that might get you 6+int for skillpoints. Also, bump down the HD to a d6.

And honestly, if you want a cloistered cleric type of variant then low BAB works well for the concept. I would just try to find ways to boost up your attack, like with the augmentations.

And while the Binder is fun as hell to play, it's not really that powerful to begin with. I'd just ask your DM if you could swap out d8 for d6, boost the skill points and proficiencies, then add a few augmentations.
