I was thinking about making a wizard that is more of a repository of knowledge than the standard character, and to go with that idea, I was thinking of switching the familiar ability with bardic knowledge. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I wouldn't give them bardic knowledge because bards get so little at any rate that it seems wrong to take something, even something usually useless. Also bardic knowledge is based off things bards have heard while wizards study instead of parrot gossip. Just give them some form of ability to take knowledge skills cheaper. It's not like knowledge helps that much so giving a wizard the ability to have max ranks in all knowledges wouldn't be much. Espiecally compared to the power to stop time.

You really do have enough skill points anyway to just dump things into knowledge skills anyway. And a familiar is nothing compared to one of the more useful utility skills. Though Bardic Knowledge is quite nothing compared to that variant that allowed bard's to use skills with ranks equal to half of his bard level (that's just ridiculous).

Just take levels in Loremaster.
