Most of the classes out there are either generic enough and/or versatile enough to fall into the general boundaries of ancient, medieval, renaissance or even steampunk fantasy. It's a stretch for some of the supplemental classes such as the ninja, the samurai or the wujen but you could pull it off by making them, for example, a rogue with innate shadow powers, a noble's champion and a self-taught wizard respectively. Even the incarnum and psionics classes can be modded RP-wise easily enough. For binders, though, since their 'spells' are incredibly detailed in roleplaying terms and are more subject to the RP texts than most other classes, and since their abilities have more of a social stigma, they're harder to adapt to alternate RPs. But I wanna see what people come up with. Here are my concepts so far.

1. A priest from an animist tradition, may or may not be tribal.

2. A priest of a pantheon of multiple deities.

3. A psionic character who manipulates his state of mind to take on an alternate personality, which gives him psionic powers that represent the mindset he's taken on. May or may not have MPD. This would especially work well with pact-making.

Any others?

The biggest and best way to change the natures of a binders RP is to change the nature and style of the vestige he binds. Changing the vestigest themselves into elemental paragons could have binders reaching out through seals and symbols to the inner planes to contract the ignian courts for assistance. Changing the vestige to angelic forces or long forgotten saints could make the binder a new paladin.

if you really want to change the nature and feel of a binder then designe a few new vestiges for the different levels and provide another set of options for the binder. Changing the fluff aorund can really make the binder a whole new world of possiblity.

A binder (here after refered to as a dreamer) accually meets with collective forces from the dream scape plane in his dreams, borrowing their power in a kind of waking day dream.

How's that?
