Ok, I've been reading a lot of stuff about fighter's being really, really bad. In my opinion (which is just that) it seems like most of the complaints come from A) a lack of class abilities, B) static bonuses without scaling, C) lack of options and terrible skills.

As far as skills go, I'd probably just suggest house ruling a 4+int mod minimum of skill points for all classes, or maybe increase the class skill points a bit. But that's not the purpose of this post.

I think the fighter class has the potential to be good, and well balanced with the other classes. It just lacks the resources that could do it, built in. This is an attempt to create some feat options for use with the fighter bonus feats which function more like class features, or give them an edge in a variety of situations.

Below is a list of new and alternatives to existing feats (also you'll notice none of these feats have ability score requirements, because most of the ability score requirements mean races with already high ability scores in a particular field even better, as well as causing complications when an ability score drops, and doesn't lend itself well to standard point buy or rolling methods, IMHO).

"In the hands of a true master, a weapon can be more dangerous than a dragon's jaws, my son." - Ulthan Bear-reaver to his Son Daniel Lion-breaker.

Weapon Mastery (General, Fighter)
You are mastering a certain weapon, learning to wield it to perfection.
Prerequisites: Fighter level 1+
Benefit: Choose a weapon. Weapon mastery grants a bonus to attack and damage rolls with the chosen weapon based on the character's level in the fighter class based on the chart below. The bonuses overlap (do not stack with) previous bonuses to attack and damage.

Level 1: +1 to attack rolls.
Level 4: +2 to damage rolls.
Level 8: +2 to attack rolls.
Level 12: +4 to damage rolls.
Level 16: +3 to attack rolls.
Level 20: +6 to damage rolls.

Special: Weapon Mastery does not stack with the bonuses granted for weapon focus or weapon specialization feats. Weapon Mastery may be used in place for weapon focus or specialization feats to qualify for feats, prestige classes, or anything requiring weapon focus or specialization.

"A true warrior is will never be stopped by any force between himself and his opponent. Many fighters learn to pierce armors, but the truest of champions let no force between heaven and hell stop their life ending attacks." - Paladin Aaron DeCelest to his apprentice.

Unstoppable Attack (General, Fighter)
Your attacks break through a target's defenses like hardness and damage reduction, as you know just how to inflict the most damage in any situation.
Prerequisite: Fighter level 4+
Benefit: You may ignore 1 point of a creature's damage reduction or an object's hardness. For every 4 levels of fighter, you may ignore 1 more point of damage reduction or hardness (1 at 4th, 2 at 8th, 3 at 12th, 4 at 16th, and 5 at 20th).
Special: A character with the Rage class feature (such as a Barbarian) may take this feat. In such a case the prerequisites become "BAB +4, Rage class feature". The benefits use the character's BAB instead of fighter level to determine the ignored hardness or damage reduction. When used this way, the feat only functions during a Rage. A character with a Smite class feature (such as a Paladin's Smite Evil or the Cleric's Destruction Domain power) may take this feat, changing the prerequisites to "BAB +4, Smite class feature". In this case, the feat only functions when using a smite attack (it still functions even if the smite fails, such as smite evil against a non-evil opponent).

As Ulth Blackbite the hobgoblin and the elf Zethinic Eversnow lunged at each other, they crashed into each other with the fury of two rampaging earth elementals. "Fool" spat Ulth, "Leaving yourself open like that..." he said as he felt his great sword cleanly slide across Zeth's ribcage, and cut into it. Zeth caughed blood. "Foolish, yes...but necessary..." he said pulling both of his kukri from chest and heart of his opponent, before Ulth fell to the ground.

Reckless Off-Hand Strike (General, Fighter)
You have learned to hit more fiercely with your off hand attacks, but open yourself up to attack.
Prerequisite: BAB +6, Two Weapon Fighting, Fighter level 6+
Benefit: When you hit with an off hand attack, you may apply your full strength modifier to your damage roll with that attack. If you do, you suffer a -2 penalty to your armor class until your next turn.
Special: A character with the Combat Style class feature (such as a Ranger) that gains two weapon fighting while in light armor may take this feat, ignoring the fighter level 6+ requirement. In this case, the feat only functions while in light or no armor.

"There is an ancient writing that speaks of warriors in the west who were immortal truly immortals sealed in mortal bodies. When they neared a mortal death, it was said nothing could stand in their way, and they shook the very ground with the swing of their sword, and as their flesh was cut from their bodies, their power only emerged more fiercely." - Ancient Barbarian Legend.

Juggernaut (General, Fighter)
Your sheer devotion, rage, or force of will prevent you from falling on the battlefield, and when pushed to the brink of death you actually become more terrifying than in life.
Prerequisite: BAB +6, Endurance, Die Hard, Iron Will, Great Fortitude
Benefit: When reduced to 0 or less hit points, instead of becoming staggered, you enter a frenzied state. While in this state, you gain a DR 3/_, a +2 bonus on attack and damage rolls, increase the threat range of your weapons by 1 (after effects such as improved critical or keen), and gain a +2 moral bonus on saving throws. You still loose 1hp per round that you take an action in, and you still die at -10 hit points.
Special: Barbarians with this feat increase their DR by 3, and gain double the feat's benefits during a rage. Paladins with this feat may sacrifice a smite attempt as a swift action to extend the benefits of this feat to all allies within 30ft of the a paladin for one round per paladin level.

"With each strike, take the ground and never give it back. Run your opponent off the edge of the world, and make him know the fear of being nothing more than your play-thing." - Blackguard Durandal Skullcrusher to his apprentice.

Knock-back (General, Fighter)
You can chain a bull rush into an attack.
Prerequisites: BAB +4, Improved Bull Rush
Benefit: When you hit an opponent with a melee attack, you may attempt to push him back as swift action. After dealing damage, you may resolve the attack as a bull rush attempt with a -4 circumstance penalty. You gain a +4 bonus if you're wielding your weapon with two hands, or a -4 penalty if your weapon is a light weapon. If used in conjunction with a shield bash attack, treat it as a two handed weapon.

More to come soon...
Please let me know what you think of these. I plan to introduce them to group very soon.

Hmmm, y'know, in hindsight may I request this post to be moved to the skills & feats board? That's probably where it should go, despite the class specific-ness of it. lol
