| Tsushi03-08-06, 10:15 PM | OK I am now thougholy confused as to how wildshape works, some people say it works like polymorph others like alter self, some say you lose yoour EX abilities others your supernatural and yet more people say you don't lose or gain ether. Instead of trying to learn it before it changes yet again I want to scrap it for a seperate ability altogether, perferably one that summons creatures (summon nature's ally X/day where x would have been the uses of wild shape), or deals with more companions. anyway what do you guy's think. any other suggestions on replacing wildshape would be appreciated Thanks |
| SilentOne03-08-06, 10:40 PM | Summon Monster X? I think summoning CR 12+ creatures at level 5 (even if it's only 1/day, but that can go up with feats) is just a tad broken. But then, that's just me. |
| Tsushi03-08-06, 11:48 PM | sorry I wasn't clearer about that, what I meant to say was that if you had wild shape 1/day then you would instead have summon natures ally 3 1/day. if you had wild shape 4/day then you would get summon natures ally 3 2/day and sumon nature's ally 4 2/day |

Probably also not worth the sacrifice, but what about toghening up the animal companion? Perhaps apply the paladin mount bonuses (which also start at level 5) to your animal companion along with the druid bonuses. That should make for a very tough companion, but I don't know if it makes up for the loss of wild-shaping. |

This makes for a much simpler to run character. Base available alternate forms on the druid's animal companion list. |
| Elbethamore03-09-06, 12:59 PM | There's a druid varient from Unearthed Arcana that gives up wildshape in exchange for some scout-like abilities. Maybe someone can fill in the details, or provide a link on that one. The summoning idea isn't a bad one either. If it's the spell list you're after, take a look at the Spirit Shaman from Complete Divine. It's flavored very differently than the druid, so it's definitely not for everyone, but worth a look if you haven't already. |
