Spontaneous Divination (wizard alternate class feature, described in Complete Champion, p. 52) says: You can spontaneously cast any spell of the divination school by sacrificing a prepared spell of equal or greater level. Does this really mean any divination spell in the game? As in, regardless on what class spell list it is normally found? So, for example, a wizard with Spontaneous Divination could use his first level spell slot to cast, say, Blessed aim (SpC), normally only available to blackguards, clerics, and paladins? Also, is it just me, or does this class feature make any wizard a better diviner than the Diviner specialist wizard? |

| bluedsteel04-28-08, 07:18 PM | Yes, you are reading it right. And yes, Complete Champion is probably the most easily abused splatbook I've ever seen. However, it also ranks as one of the most flavorful and fun to use, so don't throw it out... just be aware that adding it to the game auto-upgrades the power level of the whole game. |

| sir_argenon04-28-08, 07:37 PM | cc is VERY much a book that you want to load you characters up with it's material, if its allowed.. fist of the forest, ordained champion, the barbarian lion totem, the list goes on and on.. |
| dman1123504-28-08, 07:41 PM | Barbarian eagle totem, Forest Revee, many of the domain feats... The list goes on for both high power and low power. Though I don't think much of anything is actually overpowered, it's all within the realm of acceptance. Though I have to read this ACF. And I haven't read everything in the book yet. If something is too powerful for use, then it wouldn't be a first though. EDIT: After reading through it, it's not that bad. Specialists can still take it, so specialist diviners rock the divination scene. And it replaces a bonus feat, so you can't take it until level 5, and it's not just nixing the familiar, it's nixing something with actual power. It's on the powerful side, but still within acceptable limits. |
