| Ricros03-27-04, 05:04 PM | Dance Dance Revolutionaty "Oh crap! Well, I suppose someone would have to make one eventually" - WoTC D&D board forummer In lands where corrupt dictators and cruel kings rule their subjects with and unjust iron fist, there are a few brave adventurers who dare to resist. Some are mighty warriors, with legs like tree trunks, locks of flowing black hair, and a sharp, sharp axe. Some are silver-tounged, handsome influencers with a winning smile, and yet some are intelligent, deadly assassins who conduct their business from the shadows and dissapear as mysteriously as they came. There are a few, however, who use the magic of dance to right injustice. They are geeky and freaky but boy, can they dance. Hit Die: d10 Requirements: To qualify to become a Dance Dance Revolutionary, a character must fulfill the following criteria: Alignment: Any Good Skills: Perform (Dance) + (Sing or Instrument), Diplomacy - 10 ranks Class Feature: Bardic Music Feats: Extra Bardic Music, any other feat pertaining to bardic music Special: Must be involved in some sort of rebellion upon gaining the class. The character may progress as a DDR if he already is one, even if he is not participating in a revolution. Class Skills: The Dance Dance Revolutionary's class skills are as the bard's. Skill Points at Each Level: 6 + Int modifier. BaB: As Wizard Saves: Reflex, Will Level Special Abilities ------------------------------------ 1 DDR 1st Mix 2 DDR 2nd Mix 3 DDR 3rd Mix 4 DDR Anime 1st Mix 5 DDR 4th Mix, Butterfly 6 DDR 5th Mix 7 DDR 6th Mix 8 DDR Anime 2nd Mix 9 DDR 7th Mix 10 DDR 8th Mix, Butterfly Challenge Class Features: Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Dance Dance Revolutionaries gain no additional proficiencies. Armor: Dancing is impossible in armor, unless it has the Dancer (+2 enchantment cost) enchantment. None of the Dance Dance revolutionary's abilities work in armor, except for butterfly and butterfly challenge, if the armor has appropriate alterations made. Bardic Music: Wherever bardic music is concerned, Dance Dance Revolutionary levels stack with bard levels. DDR Mixes: (su) The power of the Dance Dance Revolutionary is an extraordinary one. The music he makes is strangeably danceable to. To use a DDR mix ability, the Dance Dance Revolutionary starts singing, or playing his instrument of choice. Allies who choose to dance all move a similar manner, and gain certain bonuses from moving that way, but are restricted to using the set actions, and may not make attacks of opportunity. They make a will save (DC 10 + Mix # + DDR's cha bonus) to stop dancing, and automatically stop dancing if the DDR stops singing (or playing). Bonuses start immediatley. This counts as one bardic music use. Anyone not hostile or unfriendly to the Dance Dance Revolutionary may benefit from this ability. DDR Mixes last 5 rounds. Affected characters may move up to half their base speed, and characters who cannot use the action (ie, when not engaging an enemy, or not able to use a certain ability for whatever reason) mime it out instead. "Shuichi has progressed through his bard levels and has become a Dance Dance revolutionary. His party: "Bad Luck" are suddenly confronted by some punks. Shuichi jumps into action and starts singing a song from DDR first mix. Hiro and Tohma choose to dance, and Usegi doesn't. On their first turns, Hiro and Tohma must make a single attack. On their second turns, they must make a disarm attack, but gain the benefits of improved disarm. The next turn, they must make two attacks at their highest base attack bonus. By this time, the punks have been floored, so the party can continue" The Mixes (and combat patterns) are: 1st Mix: Single attack at highest base attack bonus | Improved Disarm Attack | Two attacks at highest base attack bonus | Improved Disarm Attack | Three attacks at highest base attack bonus 2nd Mix: All weapons gain flaming enchantment this round + Full Attack | 5ft adjust + single attack | All weapons gain frosting enchantment this round + Full attack | 5ft adjust + single attack | All weapons gain shocking enchantment this round + full attack 3rd Mix: Full Defense | Full attack + heal HP equal to damage dealt | Full defense | Full attack + gain HP equal to damage dealt | Full defense + gain HP equal to total damage dealt when under the effects of this mix 4th Mix: Cast one empowered damage-dealing spell | Prepare to counterspell, without having to expend spell (ie dispel magic) | Cast one defensive spell or buff | Prepare to counterspell, without having to expend spell | One damage-dealing spell + maximise 5th Mix: All affected characters gain improved unarmed strike and unarmed damage die 2 levels higher for the duration - Do nothing | Improved Trip attack + Attack | Full attack w/ flurry of blows | Unarmed Sunder Attack (no improved sunder) | Full attack w/ flurry of blows 6th Mix: Do Nothing | Fight defensivley + one attack | Full defense | Full attack with +(DDR's charisma mod) to hit and +(DDR's charisma score) to damage | Full Defense + Heal HP equal to damage you dealt last round 7th Mix: +20 to hit + single attack | -3 to hit, +3 damage per blow + full attack | +20 to hit + single attack | -1 to hit, +5 damage per blow + full attack | +20 to hit + full attack 8th Mix: Effects hold until duration ends - Weapons gain undead bane + dragon bane enchantment + Single attack | Any action | Weapons gain holy enchantment + Single attack | Any action | Weapons gain vorpal enchantment + Single attack | Any action | Any action Anime Mix: Anime mixes work exactly like DDR mixes, except that the Revolutionary may choose the kind of ability they aquire. They cannot change anime abilities one they have chosen. Anime mixes often have extravagant effects. Many abilities include transformations. Change Str, Dex and Con accordingly, but leave Int, Wis and Cha as they were. The character trasforms into the creature, but still has the same HD, so the character might be smaller of larger than their new form usually is. The DM may wish to disallow abilties and qualities if players are below the usual HD. They transform back to normal when the spell ends. Many abilities allow characters who can't normally cast spells to cast a spell. Treat the save DC as the will save needed to stop dancing + 2, and the caster level as the DDR's total HD. Gekiganger: Characters tranform into Stone Golems + Do nothing | Full attack | Fly (at base speed) to any position + Single attack | Full attack | Either Fireball or Lighting Bolt where caster level = HD and save = Will save to stop dancing | Can maintain flight for 5 rounds after the dance finishes Evangelion: Characters transform into oddly colored Nightwalkers + Do nothing | Full attack | Barbarian Rage + Full attack | Greater barbarian rage + full attack | Enlarged force converted fireball centered on character (character takes no damage) | Winded -> Full Metal Alchemist: Changes hold until end of Duration - Character's weapons change to deal twice base damage + Any offensive action | Character's clothes/armor change to grant a +2 unnamed bonus to AC + Any non-attack action | Character's weapons change to double critical threat range + Any offensive action | Character's bodies change to grant +2 to Dex, Con and Str + Any offensive action | Any offensive action | Any action | Any Action Maburaho: One enlarged spell | One empowered spell | One Maximized spell | One enlarged + empowered spell | One Empowered + Maximized spell. All DC's are equal to will save required to stop dancing rather than caster's AC. Must be a spellcaster to be able to use There might be more, but it's late, and I'm too tired to think of more. Butterfly: (ex) Butterfly is the Dance Dance revolution song that everyone knows and loves. At level 5, the Dance Dance Revolutionary has memorized and mastered every step of the dance, and has been blessed with beautiful butterfly wings, which allow him to Fly at twice his ground speed with clumsy maneuverability. These wings can be folded away underneath clothing easily and painlessly. Butterfly Challenge: (ex) At 10th level, the dance dance revolutionary has mastered Butterfly on challenge difficulty, and as everyone knows, that's no easy job. The Dance Dance Revolutionary now flies at three times his ground speed with a manuverability of average. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* That's my DDR class. I'll just hide behind this fireproof tower shield and wait for the flamethrowers. If you want to suggest a better/new Mix combination, please do. I think mine are kinda sucky. |
| NightScreamer2003-27-04, 07:11 PM | Oh...god...can't...BWHAHAHAHA! :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce: Can't....contain...immense...enjoyment of class... Who knew DnD and DDR could become a monster of such proportions...i will die happy now. Thank you Ricros...Thank you... *dies* |
| rogue_lettuce03-28-04, 05:14 AM | Interesting, but I don't see how it's revolutionary or Anarchist.... Seems like it doesn't fulfil the requirements of the contest to me... |

Youre mixes are OK, for what it's worth.... Dont you mean DDR rather than Sunlight Disciple? :D |
| Ricros03-28-04, 10:14 AM | Nightscreamer: Uh.. yeah... thanks >.> RL: Nooo! It is in flavour! Dieee! And I just decided to update my sunlight discilpe in the middle of that post. That's all. ¬_¬ |
| rogue_lettuce03-28-04, 11:30 AM | can't wait for the announcing of who wins... Im not gonna win, but i dont think you will either... |
| Stirge03-28-04, 12:16 PM | This prestige class is great-very humorous, but interesting enough that I'd prolly allow it in one of my games if a player was interested (maybe I'm just a DDR geek). Not sure how it is on the balance scale but I like it anyways :) |
| Ricros03-28-04, 12:33 PM | Maybe I'll get best class ability for Butterfly ;) |
| rogue_lettuce03-28-04, 01:14 PM | perhaps... |
| TheMightyMcClaw03-28-04, 09:13 PM | That is TRULY horrifying. Yet somehow.... funky. |
| dulldoll03-29-04, 02:53 AM | I think you should change 6th mix, 7th mix, and 8th mix into DDRMAX, DDRMAX2, and EXTREME, respectively. Other than that, excellet job! I loved it. |
| Ricros03-29-04, 04:04 AM | Yeah, I was going to, but there wouldn't be any real significance to it. |
| PonTelon09-03-04, 04:03 PM | Wow. Just awsome. I have to make a gang of DDR foo's. Of course they'd be alot stronger than my level 1 PCs currently ~_~ Perhaps I will adapt it to be a Bore class. It's "Beginner mode" lol |
| PonTelon09-24-04, 01:11 PM | I think this class is pretty good if a bit overpowered. The DDR should have to make a Preform check each round of the Mix to keep it up. Also, where is the ability to use Otto's Irrisistable dance?! I mean that should be a given with a class like this lol. I honestly don't get the Butterfly ability. It doesn't seem to fid the DDR and it gives another powerful ability to an already powerful class. I nkow you probally thought of this as just a fun class but I think I'd actually use it. It just needs to be a bit less overpowered for it to be fair. Umm. I have another question, Perhaps I'm just behind on my Bard study but isn't Bardic music based off of Preform skill rather than class levels. This may have changed in 3.5 so I'm unsure. I just read the 3.5 Bard. The times per day is Level based and the abilities are level and rank based. I was wondering though, all Presige classes need to have a reason why someone wouldn't want to take it. I can't see any in this class except for the Bard missing out on some spells. =/ I would probally make it so that normal Bardic music still only works with Bard levels. So a Brd7/DDR3 would do his normal bardic music as if he was level 7 bard but able to use Mixes 10 times a day. Basically have the DDR levels stack with Bard levels in reference to how many times per day but not the strength of the regular bardic music abilities. So the before mentioned example could cast Bardicmusic/Mixes 10 times per day but could not use the Bardic music ability Inspire Greatness(BRD level 9 required). Anyway, just some (hopefully) helpful construtive critisism. I'd love to see this class worked out and more playable! I am probally going to try out this class in my next session in a campaign I have going. |
