*GASP!!!* I just read the errata for the complete warrior, and saw that the Samuri class only gets 2d4x10 starting gold!!! How in the heck are they supposed to do anything with this? I mean, with 6d4x10 they couldn't buy their katanas (masterwork Bastard sword costing over 300 gp...) but now they can barely afford any good equipment!! What gives? Why are samuri so poor?

because WotC decided they didnt need so much money-
go adventure for a level or two and you can afford your precious masterwork bastard sword and short sword

The average starting gold would be 50gp.

The Samurai then might to actually want to own a Bastard Sword, since it's his one and only class feature at level 1. That's 35 gp.

15 left to spend on things like armor, back up weapon, ranged weapon and gear.

This makes no sense at all for a warrior character who should have 5d4x10 as a minimum.

I can think of only 2 possibilities.

1) The 2d4 x10, is a misprint.

2) The Samurai is assumed to be starting the game with his Daisho.

well my DM rules that all samurai start with a daisho set and the basic gear (backpack, water skin, rations, etc...) so that starting gold is usually dumped into whatever armor we need. Not a GREAT setup now, but not that bad.

Using that logic, then the Paladin, Ranger, Fighter, Hex Blade, and Swashbuckler also have too much money, and should be cut off at the legs.

WHOA! He might actually START with his daisho set?? That makes things totally different! If that's the case, I could understand the seemingly lack of funding.

It's been a while since I've looked at the class, but the way I'd see it is, being a Samurai they have got a benafactor/sponsor that they serve already. Said benefactor is probably well off and as such would be sure and equip their rettainers and vassels appropriately.

Basic things like a weapon and simple armour would be given to them by their master. Along with other things that the Samurai would need to complete basic day to day tasks of their duties.

The lower starting gold simply represents that.

Or it could just be a misprint. :)

All Samurai start with their daisho set. It's in the book, and I don't even have it. 50 gp would be for his Hide Armor 15gp, his basic needs I.E Rations...etc. Then next lvl you gain 900gp.

*GASP!!!* I just read the errata for the complete warrior, and saw that the Samuri class only gets 2d4x10 starting gold!!! That's 2d4*10 on top of the rest of the starting package, since the CW doesn't list an amount of starting gold other than that. Not that that makes any sense either, but there you have it. ;)
