From what started as a funny/interesting off-the-fly RPing session I am building a celestial cat. I want him to be a caster for his first class. Now I just need a little advice, I would really like the idea of a wizard... the whole book thing is kind of a problem for the little guy... and I'm not sure I see him as a sorcerer... I have thought of bard... which would present some interesting options... so what can you all suggest class-wise?

THANX!!!

There's always beguiler. Act like a rogue (very cat-like), but cast like a wizard. Also you get to completely pwn, but thats really just a bonus.

Psionics, the power of the mind, doesn't require finger wiggling, magic words, bits of bat poo, or recipe book. It's a great match for tiny non-human-shaped characters.

Alternatively, Warlock's always fun, though, you'd be limited to playing Chaotic Good. Imagine, Fluffles the Cat shooting Eldritch Hairballs at people

Animals tend to have trouble performing verbal and somatic components. I think psion is still your best bet.

What is the feeling of this character? Is it slightly comical? If yes, perhaps can you beg the DM to have the wizard's book hide in an extra-dimensional space for few cost. Just the idea of a cat snapping it paws and making a book larger than itself appear, then putting his glasses to read it is very comical!

There's always Surrogate Spellcasting from Savage Species (ow, the alliteration!).

Why use the celestial template and give you +ECL for a smite you won't use, just have an awakened animal.
