Creayatir 02-29-04, 02:31 PM	If I tought my animal companion the attack trick, i can command him to attack as a free action (dm house rule). Does that mean that he attacks whenever I tell him to, any time i want? Or does he attacking count as my attack turn, making it impossible for me to make an attack myself?
DragonWatcher 02-29-04, 03:20 PM	Getting an animal to perform a trick that they know is generally a Move Equivalent Action (or in the case of your "house rule" a free action). You have to make a Handle Animal check (DC 10) to direct the animal to attack (Don't forget that you get a +4 to this check since it it your Animal Companion). After you instruct the animal to attack, you can attack normally, and the animal will attack normally as well. So this does not prevent you from also attacking on the same round that your animal companion does. Each time you want the animal to change targets (or perform any other trick or action), though, you will have to make a seperate Handle Animal check. I hope this helps.
