Is the price of an animal from a pet store part of the cost of a familiar? Does finding an animal companion involve walking around looking for it? If I already have an animal companion, can I make a familiar out of it when I multi-class? What about the other way around?

Does finding an animal companion involve walking around looking for it? Up to the DM. There are no hard and fast rules on this. However, familiars mostly can just show up after the ritual is complete. Note that no ritual is required for animal companions. For more RPing you can have the PC look for either the familiar or animal companion. Is the price of an animal from a pet store part of the cost of a familiar?
