Animal or not? (Wild Shape Q) [Archive] - Wizards Community

After looking over the Polymorph/Wild Shape rules, I'm just wanting to check:

Does a Druid using Wild Shape take on the Animal type?

Does this mean that the Druid using Wild Shape to assume an Animal form can then cast spells such as Animal Growth on himself (assuming the use of Natural Spell)?

Is there anything in errata or FAQ that changes this from the initial printing of the PHB?

Yes, you gain the type of the creature you polymorph/wildshape to (with the exception of wildshaping into elemental forms).

Yes. Although there was a debate whether you could use Animal growth on your new form if its already larger than your natural size (because the last sentence in animal growth description says it's not cumulative with other magical increaes in size). Your DM will have to make a ruling on that one (if it helps, my DM has no problem with it :)).

It can also lead to some silly situations, like casting awaken on yourself :P Again, common sence and DM should take care of such things.

Is there anything in errata or FAQ that changes this from the initial printing of the PHB?

Not that I'm aware of.

Regards.
