We have a whole board for it.

Every now and then such a class pops out, but they're rare. Still, if you lurk long enough, you can get something. You might want to check the base classes compendium, it's listed in the "Important links thread".

The d20 anime board is another good option, but it's not the busiest place here.

Define 'anime'. Which show? There are a number of various options floating around, ad many of them are a simple as re-flavouring existing mechanics. It would help to know what exactly you are trying to accomplish.

Psionics and the new Tome of battle might come close to replicating some of the stuff you see on anime, though you will need to revise the flavour where appropriate.:)

Like aotrscommander said, you have to define anime. Saying "anime" is as vague as saying "movie," even if a lot of Americans have the idea that stereotypical (and lame) shonen anime like Bleach and DBZ or the occasional magical girl anime like Sailor Moon encompass the whole of the medium, which is simply ignorant. They're just a couple of genres, and there is a LOT more out there. As a result, saying "I hate anime" tends to be seen as a rather ignorant comment in many cases as well.

That said, a great deal of anime characters can easily be statted out with existing mechanics. See, for example, the Psionics board thread that stats out the entire cast of Naruto.

As for "revising flavor" it should go without saying. You should "revise flavor" for just about everything as appropriate to your game. Fluff isn't written in the rules... and the mechanics stay the same whether your disintegrate ray is Green (as the description in the PHB) or red, or even a character pulling on thin strands of elongated flesh to unravel the enemy like thread. As long as it's still a ranged touch attack that does a crapload of damage when the enemy fails a save, it doesn't matter how you describe it.

Hmm...

... Naruto's cast as Psions... or Naruto's cast as primarily Swordsages with different School mixes...

*goes back to weighing*

You could of course, do both. *CoughSekkouclassinsigcough*

Batshido, you're just asking for it :P

Kasnay, you should take a look at Tome of Battle: Book of the Nine Swords. You can find all the stuff you want there ;)

Or, you can play Core, and do the following:

1. Require all Fighters, Barbarians and Paladins to wield greatswords and say (with absolutely no mechanical effect) that they are 7 feet long and leave streaks of light as they swing.

2. Reflavor all spells into requiring complex somatic components and requiring the caster to yell out the name of the technique followed by"-Jutsu." It helps if they are jumping/levitating/flying when they are doing this.

3. Use your :censored: imagination. Anything becomes anime if you stare at it hard enough and with enough seething anger. Just ask anyone who posted in the affirmative on the "Is ToB too Anime" thread. ;)

There need be no mechanical change to D&D to create a perfectly serviceable "Anime" setting or even tweak an existing setting to make it feel like you want to.

Go nuts.

Or just base your game on Record of Lodoss War. 95% is covered by SRD, 5% is you changing visual effects, names, etc.

Seriously, without knowing a particular title, character name or concept, it might be a bit hard. Witch Hunter Robin is one thing, Slayers is another, DBZ is yet another.

Sure. They're called the Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard.

Anime is so diverse that it's not really possible to group its characters into classes: Naruto's ninjas are very different from Ninja Scroll's ninjas, which in turn are very different from Rurouni Kenshin's ninjas. The best you can really do is pick an appropriate class or set of classes and roleplay the rest.

Well, if you want DBZ, I recommend the Epic Level Handbook and a character at level 100+

I'm not. It's just that I've wasted far too many hours of my life trying to justify it's existance and flavor in D&D to those who apparently don't want it here, and I really didn't want this thread to devolve into "Tob is Anime, play it you stupid otaku" or "Psionics are anime, that's why I don't allow them in my game."

So far it hasn't, but there's really no reason to tempt fate.

I think he was more refering to what the OP posted in light of the very long discussions on anime in recent threads (particularly in the "is ToB too anime" thread) where it had been repeatedly stated has being saying that merely saying "anime" with no other qualifiers is covering a vast gulf of disparate ground and is rather unhelpful, like saying "I want characters based on cartoons" which could mean anything from Family Guy to W.i.t.c.h. to Justice League.

Rather than knocking anime itself.

Edit: Or, you know,

Record of the lodoss war is probley the easiest to convert to D&D rules becuase the anime was based on the creators 2nd ed. D&D game with his friends.

I've heard it was based on a RP system, but I thought it might be something different. I thought Bastard was based on D&D (and a lot of metal songs, but that's different).

do a google search restricted to site:boards1.wizards.com with the name of the series you're looking for in it. I've seen a number of Bleach Shinigami classes here and the Psi board had a thread about Nartaro. I have a Shaman King inspired class here somewhere.

Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, and Rune Soldier are all inspired by DnD campaigns. Clearly, Slayers is modified quite a bit.

Like a lot of others have said, using the term "anime" is really vague... cause ToB could be any fighting anime, from Ranma 1/2 to umm... Naruto. Core Classes can do a lot of things anime, if you reflavor them and psionics can pretty much cover the rest... but, I find that DnD isn't umm... modular enough, or rather free form enough to do anime really... Like someone posted earlier, Besm works pretty well, and if you still want DnD mechanics, besmd20, and go visit the anime forums too.

Oddly, I still find google searches more useful for finding things on the Wizards boards...

I would suggest looking at Nightscreamer20's Shinobi (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=356723), his Greatblade Soldier (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=822068), and his Alchemist (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=498216). Also, Need_A_Life's Alchemist (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=810893&highlight=Alchemist+class). They are rather good.

However, I would suggest making your own. When it comes to anime/manga at least, it is very difficult for what someone else makes to fit your idea of what it's supposed to be. The only reason I haven't made one is (besides the fact that I'm lazy) is because I don't think I could do the awesomeness that is anime/manga justice in anything I create.
