so, near me we just started a DnD campaign, and we're going to be split into two distinct groups, one with the chaotic and evil characters and one with the others and the paladin. anywho, one person rolled a warlock, i watched him roll his stats, as did the DM, he managed to roll 5 18s and a 14, making him hp and, well, everthingwise, the most powerful PC in our group, save for the pally.

and um, i'm a druid. and of course its a new campaign, so we're all first level. even so, he's not so great with his Character yet, so he wasn't very good in our preview battle.

also, is there somewhere to get advice on playing a good druid, feats, skills etc....?

:edit: meant to say pally has the most hp, but then of course, the third highest AC, etc..

Well, it's a warlock. Not too much to benefit there from overly high stats. He needs charisma, dexterity, and con. Other than that, those 18s are wasted. I'm also wondering how the Pally is the most powerful in the group...

Anyway, druid 20 with natural spell is widely regarded as the second most powerful druid build, the most powerful being druid 10/Planar Shephard 10, but that PrC is not allowed a lot of the time because it's the only PrC that makes the druid more powerful, and that's not a good thing. Check out the Druid Handbook for more details. It's on the CO boards.

Are you using Shapeshift in PHB 2? If not than you have Wild shape (when you reach level 5): get Natral spell at level 6.
1) One method: Cast spells in animal form and stay that way (you can actually do that and be a decent character both in roleplay/mechanics. Escpecially if type who wants to be one with nature).

2) Second Method: Build up Animal Companion: buy him barding (animal armor with low armor check if nonproficient, only riding dogs/Warhorses are proficient).
Things you might get are Natural Bond for the higher up AC creatures like Tiger, offsets penalty to Druid Level for Animal Companion improvement.
Or take levels in Beastmaster to make it stronger.

3) Focus just on spellcasting.
a. This might include summon Nature's ally (if so Spellfocus Conj lets you qualify to get feat Augment Summoning. Augment summon gives summons +4 Str/Con each).
b. Finding good blasting spells (he has a decent number)
c. Being a great healer: oh, btw, summoning a Unicorn also lets you heal.

4) Any mixture of the above you want.

Druids are extremly versitile in building them.

Or take a level in Beastmaster to make it stronger.

Fixed, and even then it may not be worth the hassle. As for the druid, gettin natural spell should be a good start - nearly all else is optional. Vazh, do you want to simply outdo the warlock or really go CoDzilla mode? The former should be fairly easy if you put your best scores in wisdom and constitution and get natural spell. The latter might involve some research: check http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=733400

Shaman, if you are going to "fix" someones quote please at least bold the changes you made to it. Those are not his words you are quoting and as such the diffrences need to be specified.

Good advice for druids

high wisdom, and then con in that order. The other stats are essentially dump stats. Because once you hit 6th level you are always in an animal form using their str and dex. (you get wildshape at 5th but it dosn't get amazing until level 6 with natural spell feat).

At level 1 your animal companion will be how you survive, take spells that buff him and get a riding dog or a wolf.

So long as you take natural spell as your level 6 feat you should be ok powerwise, and really can't make another descision that would hamper your character. At 6th level, you can start to summon monsters for an entire battle, to tank. Meanwhile you can be in whatever animal form you want.

As mentioned, do not prestige out. The only one that makes druids more powerful is planar shepard, and if you take that the game becomes unfun due to how ridicilus you become.

Augment summoning is a nice feat if you plan to summon lots of things into combat, but i wouldnt take it until level 3. (when summons last longer than 1 or 2 rounds)
