| Twink_00711-01-05, 05:41 PM | This is a cry for help! I need someone to review this BASE class so that I can use it. Here it goes: Class: Arcane Master The Arcane Master(am)is a person that is drawn to the artistic side of magic such as sorcerors, but is also partial to the structured side of the studious Wizard's school, leaving you someone in between:the am. An example is the following: "The young man walked over to a strange stick, picked it up, and waved it around like a conductors baton. Then, a beam of bright energy shot out of the stick, blasting a near-by pile of rocks into oblivion. I turned and asked"how did you do that?" the young man turned to me and said" 'dunno...it just came to me that it should be done that way..." Skills: need help with these... BAB: 0,1,3,3,4,5,6,6,7,8,9,9,10,11,12,12,13,1 4,15 Fort/Ref/Will: 0/0/2,0/0/3,1/1/3,1/1/4,1/1/4,2/2/5,2/2/5,2/2/6,3/3/6,3/3/7,4/4/8,4/4/9,5/5/9,5/5/10,5/5/10,6/6/11,6/6/11,6/6/12 Specias Qualities: Scroll Use- An am is naturally proficiant with magic items(mostly scrolls). As such, the following table reflects the am's progress of knoledge in the field of magic item use: 1 1 lvl arcane scrolls 2 1 lvl divine scrolls 3 2lvlarcane scrolls 4 2 lvl divine scrolls 5 3 lvl arcane scrolls 6 3lvl divine scrolls... so forth and so on to 18th level. i also wanted to mix in some Arcane spell failures decreaces, weapon and armour profficiancy feats, as well as some minor spell casting(up to 4th level spells) to signify the am's gradual understanding of the magical language on all those scrolls he reads please help me with this class, because it can really be a great class :( |

Anyway as far as skills I would make it much like the wizards. Only instead of profession make it use magical device which is as follows concentration (con), craft (int), decipher script (int), knowledge (all taken individually) (int), spell craft (int), use magical device (cha). Also as far as HD it depends on how much power you give the class on using armor and weapons. The basic thing to do here is a d6. You might wanna give it a light armor proficiency without taking arcane spell failure at first and then move from there. I would at least give it simple weapon proficiency. All this is pending on how powerful you make your spell casting. I like your using scrolls approach but I fear it may make it to powerful. Anyway just a thought. |
| ArochanoX11-29-05, 01:46 PM | Well, this class seriously needs one ability: Spellbook. Spellbook: even though am's don't cast spells from memory, they need some place to storage spells - that is their spellbook. It works exactly the same way as wizard's spellbook, but it can also have divine spells in it. AM cannot cast spells from the book, but he can use it to create scrolls. To create a scroll, use the basic rules of scroll creation. Maybe some experience point pool like artificiers fits this class. |
