| Drake_the_Windseeker07-24-05, 09:35 AM | Since my Dragonkin Lycanthrope idea was shot down in the other forum, what about a Barbarian prestige class, where every time the Barbarian went into a rage, their form changed, and they turned into something that looked like a Half-Dragon or Dragonkin, and their stats improved, or they gained certain abilities or something. I'm just shooting ideas around. Help me! |
| Hochi-min trail07-24-05, 09:38 AM | Just make a bear warrior variant, by choosing a weaker creature but add the half-dragon template. |
| Drake_the_Windseeker07-24-05, 09:02 PM | No, what I meant was something more along the lines of having the character take on the Half-Dragon abilities and such during a rage. I'm not sure how to work it, though. I just have this vision, and I need help tooling it over. |
| Jaid07-24-05, 09:25 PM | i think the bear warrior idea still applies. |
| Drake_the_Windseeker07-25-05, 12:11 AM | Ok, I'm not sure how that would work mechanically or role-playing wise. Would someone please explain it to me? |
| Hochi-min trail07-25-05, 04:32 AM | Well, instead of ganing the bear form when raging, the guy gains half-dragon form - now, this is pretty much like a greater rage at first, giving him a little better strangth basically. when it is time to get brwon bear form, give him another bonus of the dragon type. when it is time to get the dire bear form, give him a breath weapon to use while raging. Now, this needs a little tuning up, but this could be the basis of the class. |
| Rohano07-25-05, 04:48 AM | Maybe, as he gains levels, he gets more dragon abilities? Wings, maybe, or a much higher claw and bite damage as his draconic form advances (as the form upgrades at future levels, his jaw and face get more like a dragon's and his claws get bigger or something). Not just a breath weapon, but something like upgraded natural armor and attack/damage. Maybe crit range increases or something. |
| Hochi-min trail07-25-05, 06:52 AM | sure. Just be sure not to give him too much powers. For example, don't allow him to use weapons if he decides to turn into dragon form while raging, because he gains a super-duper dave rage, giving him twice the amount of strength, NA and the like. |
| Drake_the_Windseeker07-25-05, 11:56 AM | Drakan Ascendant First, the dreams come. Fevered dreams of an inner strength the warrior never knew, some inner fire bursting to come out. Nightmares of everyone around them burning, their screams piercing the night air. The warrior awakes, confused, wondering where these strange dreams come from. Then, one day, they are struck down, dealt a mortal blow, without being able to ascertain the mystery that surrounds their dreams. However, in the one moment of death that they actually experience, does the source of their dreams come clear to those who could recognize it: the power of dragons has been passed to them through their bloodline. The drakan ascendant cheats death, given the opportunity to tear the throat out of the villian that dared to strike them. They fly into a rage, beating their would-be killer past death, and not acknowledging any of their kinsman or friends that would try to stop them. When they regain control, they regain their memory, though they may regret what they have done. The drakan ascendant usually goes throughout life seeking to understand this newfound power of theirs. However, some go on in spite of it, seeking only to adventure for fame and fortune. Hit Die: d12 Requirements To qualify to become a dragon rager, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Race: Any nondragon (cannot be half-dragon) Feats: Iron Will Languages: Draconic Class Specific: Must have the ability to rage Special: The player chooses a dragon variety when taking the first level in this prestige class, subject to the DM's approval. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Drakan Ascendents gain no proficiency with any weapons or armor. Firespark (Ex): Upon taking the first level of this prestige class, the drakan ascendant's hit points are completely replenished, and they are forced into their rage state. The drakan ascendant immediately attack the opponent who dealt them their mortal blow, even once their opponent is dead, and must make a Will save, once the aforementioned foe is dead, to come to their senses and come out of their rage. Altered Rage (Ex): Your previous rage bonuses stack with those given later in the drakan ascendent's class progression. However, every time you take damage when you are not in a rage, your DM rolls a percentile with a 50% chance that you involuntarily enter your rage. In addition, you must succeed a Will save (DC being 10 + your Str modifier during a rage + your levels in drakan ascendant) each round to have control of your actions. Rage Armor (Ex): When entering a rage, the skin rips from the drakan ascendant's skin, revealing scales similar to that of a dragon. At 1st level, these scales give the drakan ascendant a natural armor bonus of +2. At 4th level, this bonus increases to +4, and at 7th level, it increases again to +6. Rage Boost (Ex): During a rage, the drakan ascendant gains certain ability boosts that stack with any bonuses already given during a rage. The increase in the Strength bonus at the drakan ascendant's 4th level overlaps the one given at the drakan ascendant's 2nd level. Claws and Bite (Ex): At 2nd level, when in a rage, the drakan ascendant's teeth and nails grow to increased proportions, giving them claw and bite attacks if they do not already have them. Use the values below or the drakan ascendant's base claw and bite damage values, whichever are greater. Size--------Bite Damage---------Claw Damage Small------------1d4-----------------1d3 Medium----------1d6-----------------1d4 Large------------1d8-----------------1d6 Rage Resistance (Su): At 3rd level, the drakan ascendant gains a certain resistance towards the type of elemental damage that his draconic ancestor spewed forth from their gullet. The type of energy depends on his dragon ancestor (see below) This resistance of 5 increases to 10 at 5th level. Dragon Variety*----Element Resistance Black-------------------Acid Blue--------------------Lightning Green-------------------Acid Red---------------------Fire White-------------------Cold Brass-------------------Fire Bronze------------------Lightning Copper------------------Acid Gold---------------------Fire Silver--------------------Cold *other varieties of drakan ascendant are possible, using other dragon varieties as ancestors. Frightful Presence (Ex): The drakan ascendant gains the ability to inspire mortal terror in his opponents at 5th level. This ability comes into effect as soon as the drakan ascendant flies into a rage, the transformation unsettling opponents within 30 feet of the drakan ascendant. A potentially affected creature that succeeds on a Will save (DC 10 + drakan ascendant's levels + Cha modifier) remains immune to that drakan ascendant's frightful presence for 24 hours. On a failure, creatures with 4 or less HD become panicked for 4d6 rounds, and those with 5 or more HD become shaken for 4d6 rounds. Dragons are immune to this frightful presence. Drakan Ascendancy: At 10th level, the drakan ascendant fully understands their transformation. When in a rage, their natural armor bonus increases to +8 (overlapping the +6 bonus), their Strength bonus increases to +6 (overlapping the +4 bonus), and they gain low-light vision, 60-foot darkvision, immunity to magical sleep and parylisis effects, and immunity to the elemental damage they were resistant to. |
