Class Features
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Sumo wrestlers are not proficient with any weapon, nor are they proficient with any armor or shields-in fact, wearing armor is difficult for them due to their bulky physique (see below).

Natural Armor Bonus: A sumo wrestlers blubbery form allows them to apply their constitution bonus to AC instead of their dexterity modifier (players choice), even when flat footed. The sumo wrestler cannot use this benefit against touch attacks and must use their dexterity modifier against such attacks. In addition, the sumo wrestler gains a +1 natural armor bonus to AC at 5th level, which stacks with other forms of natural armor. This bonus increases by 1 for every 5 sumo levels gained thereafter (+2 at 10th, +3 at 15th and +4 at 20th level).

Grappling Strike: At 1st level a sumo wrestler gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. This ability is identical to a monks unarmed strike as indicated on page 41 of the players handbook except where noted below:

A sumo wrestler deals more damage with her unarmed strikes than a normal person would, as shown on the above table. When making unarmed strikes outside of a grappling situation, a sumo wrestler uses the first column (entitled unarmed damage) to determine the damage of her unarmed strikes. When making unarmed strikes while grappling with another character, a sumo wrestler uses the second column (entitled grapple damage) to determine the damage of her unarmed strikes. The unarmed damage and grapple damage on the above table is for a medium size sumo wrestler. Small and Large sumo wrestlers deal damage according to the Small and Large Sumo Wrestler Damage table below.

In addition, a sumo wrestler gains a competence bonus on all grapple checks equal to one half her class level (rounding fractions up) which stacks with all other competence bonuses that she may have on her grapple checks.

If a sumo wrestler has levels in any class which grants her an unarmed damage progression (such as having levels in the monk core class or the tattooed monk prestige class), her class level stacks to determine her unarmed damage while grappling. Her class level does not stack to determine her unarmed damage outside of a grappling situation however, instead, her unarmed damage is determined according to whichever class (or classes) grant her the highest unarmed damage.

Finally, a sumo wrestler with the Stunning Fist feat treats her class levels as monk levels for the purposes of determining the number of stunning attacks that she can make in one day.

Small or Large Sumo Wrestler Damage Table
Unarmed Damage Grapple Damage Unarmed Damage Grapple Damage
Level (Small Sumo) (Small Sumo) (Large Sumo) (Large Sumo)
1st-3rd 1d2 1d4 1d4 1d8
4th-7th 1d3 1d6 1d6 2d6
8th-11th 1d4 1d8 1d8 2d8
12th-15th 1d6 1d10 1d10 3d6
16th-19th 1d8 2d6 2d6 3d8
20th 1d10 2d8 2d8 4d8

Heightened Constitution: At 1st level a sumo wrestlers increased mass, heightened constitution and increased fortitude and endurance grants them a +1 inherrent bonus to constitution. At 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th level this inherrent bonus increases by an additional +1 for a +5 inherrent bonus to constitution at 20th level. This bonus does not stack with inherrent bonuses gained from other sources.

Sumo Weight: Due to their high fat/low colesterol diet, a 1st level sumo wrestlers weight increases by 5%. At 2nd level and for every level thereafter, a sumo wrestlers weight increases by an additional 5% (+10% at 2nd, +15% at 3rd, +20% at 4th.... upto +200% at 20th level). Weight increases are not compounded and are applied to the sumo wrestlers normal unmodified weight only.

A sumo wrestlers weight does not increase after 20th level as they have reached the maximum weight that a character of their race can attain at this point through natural means and weighs 3x as much as they would have weighed normally if they were not of the sumo wrestler class.

If a sumo wrestler is affected by a spell or effect which alters their size, their sumo weight class ability is applied after their new base weight is determined. Despite the fact that a 20th level sumo wrestler is 3 times as heavy as another character of their race, a sumo wrestler is still lighter than if they had increased a size category (since increasing your size category multiplies your weight by 8 times and your height by 2).

This ability does not affect the sumo wrestlers abilities in any way (excluding spells or effects which are based on a creatures weight such as the teleport spell or being carried aloft by an arial mount) as its effects have been calculated into the sumo wrestlers other class features.

If a sumo wrestler chooses to loose their extra weight (which takes 2 weeks per weight increase they desire to loose), they loose the benefits and penalties of all class abilities that they gain based off of this extra weight (bulky form, damage reduction, heightened constitution, grapple bonus, grapple damage, natural armor, and oversize body) at the same rate. They retain their bonus feats, stability and unarmed damage even when loosing their weight however.

They regain all diminshed (or lost) class features should they once again put on this weight which takes 1 month for each weight increase (+5% weight) they wish to regain.

For example, a 20th level sumo wrestler decides to loose 1/4 of their increased weight (i.e decides to reduce their weight from 3x normal weight [+200% weight increase] down to 2 1/2x normal weight [+150% weight increase]) would have the bulky form, damage reduction, heightened constitution, grapple bonus, grapple damage, natural armor and oversize body class features as if they were a 15th level sumo wrestler.

Bonus feats: At 1st level, a sumo wrestler gains Improved Grapple as a bonus feat even if they do not meet the prerequisites. At 2nd level and every three levels thereafter (5th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 20th) the sumo wrestler gains an additional bonus feat chosen from the list below. The sumo must meet all prerequisites for any feat he selects.

Clever wrestling*, close quarters fighting*, combat expertise, combat reflexes, defensive strike*, defensive throw*, deflect arrows, diehard, dodge, earths embrace*, endurance, extra stunning attacks* great fortitude, greater resiliency*, hold the line*, improved bullrush, improved combat expertise*, improved critical (unarmed strike), improved disarm, improved overrun, improved trip, improved toughness*, iron will, power attack, rapid stunning*, snatch arrows, stunning fist, toughness, and weapon focus (unarmed strike)
*Complete warrior

Bulky form: At 2nd level, a sumo wrestlers bulky form imposes a -1 penalty on all dexterity checks and all dexterity based skill checks (excluding balance checks). This penalty rises by an additional -1 at 6th level and for every 4 sumo levels gained thereafter (-3 at 10th, -4 at 13th, -5 at 17th and -6 at 20th level).

This penalty does not increase after attaining 20th level as the character has reached their maximum physical size by this stage of their career.

Purity of Body: At 4th level the sumo wrestler gains purity of body. This ability is identical to the monk ability of the same name.

Damage reduction: At 7th level, a sumo wrestlers bulky form allows them to shrug off some amount of injury from each blow or attack. Subtract 1 from the damage the sumo wrestler takes each time he is dealt damage from a weapon or natural attack. At 10th level, and every three sumo wrestler levels thereafter (13th, 16th, and 19th), this damage reduction rises by 1 point. Damage reduction can reduce damage to 0 but not below 0. If you gain damage reduction from another class (such as levels in barbarian), your class level stacks to determine what level you must be to gain damage reduction and the amount of damage reduction you possess.

Stability: At 9th level, a sumo wrestler is so heavy, bulky and immovable that they get a +4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground). This ability stacks with all similar abilities such as a dwarfs racial stability.

Diamond body: At 11th level a sumo wrestler gains diamond body. This ability is identical to the monk ability of the same name.

Oversize Body: At 15th level, a sumo wrestler is treated as a creature one size larger than their actual size when determining whether a creature's special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. This ability stacks with the powerful build racial feature allowing a sumo wrestler with the powerful build racial feature to treat their size as being two sizes larger than their actual size when determining wehther a creature's special attacks based on size can affect him.

In addition the sumo wrestler gains a +4 bonus on all opposed strength checks excluding grapple checks ( as the sumo wrestlers great size has already been calculated into their grapple attack bonus progression), suffers a -1 penalty to AC and must now wear armor designed for a creature one size larger than their actual size, however the sumo wrestler suffers no penalty due to wearing armor designed for a creature of this size.

Quivering Palm: This ability is identical to the monk ability of the same name.

Ex- Sumo Wrestlers
A sumo wrestler who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a sumo wrestler but retains all class abilities. Like a member of any class, a sumo wrestler may be a multi-class character, but multiclass sumo wrestlers face a special restriction. A monk who gains a new class or (if already multiclass) raises another class by a level may never again raise her sumo level, though she retains all sumo abilities. Sumo wrestlers and monks may freely multiclass with each other.

Um, how am I stepping on someone elses toes, I made this class in 2004 and it never got any attention at the time (no visitors to the post at all), but then again the board was very busy with the loss of the search function at the time.

I was just reminded that I had made this class and went searching for the original post for it, copy/pasting it in this thread.
